Supported Applications
The Omega HH200A is a handheld digital thermometer designed for temperature measurement using thermocouple types J, K, T, R, N, E, and S. The series also supports infrared measurements via the OS36 sensor with Type K thermocouple output. Thermocouple calibrations adhere to national and international standards (NBS and IEC) tables.
Applications include general temperature monitoring where a portable, microprocessor-driven instrument is required. The device features open sensor detection and low-battery warnings for field use. Note: These products are not designed for patient-connected applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HH200A operates within an ambient temperature range of -30 to 50°C (-22 to 122°F). Storage is supported from -40°C to 60°C (-40 to 140°F) with a humidity rating of 0 to 70% R.H. Accuracy is specified as ±(0.25% rdg + 0.2°C), referenced at 23°C (73°F). The instrument provides cold-junction compensation for thermocouple inputs with a coefficient of 0.01% of reading/°C.
Measurement ranges vary by sensor type:
- Type J: -200 to 1200 °C (-328 to 2192 °F)
- Type K: -200 to 1372 °C (-328 to 2502 °F)
- Type E: -200 to 1000 °C (-328 to 1832 °F)
- Type T: -200 to 400 °C (-328 to 752 °F)
- Type R: -50 to 1767 °C (-58 to 3212 °F)
- Type N: -200 to 1300 °C (-328 to 2372 °F)
- Type S: -50 to 1767 °C (-58 to 3212 °F)
- OS36 infrared (Type K output): -50 to 249 °C (-58 to 480 °F)
The display resolution is auto-ranging: 0.1° up to 1000°, and 1° above 1000°. The unit weighs 155 g (5.5 oz) and measures 130 H x 70 W x 33 mm D (5.2 x 2.8 x 1.3").
Configuration Options
The HH200A series is housed in durable ABS plastic with a shock-resistant rubber holster included as standard equipment. The device accepts sensors via a Standard OMEGA subminiature thermocouple connector.
- Sensor Compatibility: Supports J, K, T, R, N, E, S thermocouples and OS36 infrared probes (sold separately).
- Power Supply: Operates on a 9V battery (type MN1604) with an estimated life of 200 hours using alkaline batteries.
- Display Features: Bright LCD with °C/°F switchability. Displays 'BAT LOW' for low battery and '---- INPUT' for probe errors or out-of-range conditions.
- Certifications & Warranty: CE marked; ISO 9001 Certified; ISO 9002 Certified. Includes a 3-year warranty with optional NIST calibration available.
An accessory soft carrying case with belt loop (Model No. SC-450S) is offered for the series.
Key Product Differences
The HH200A model represents a single-channel handheld configuration within this series. The primary variation in capability arises from the selection of external thermocouple or infrared sensors, which determine the specific measurement range and application suitability as detailed above. No internal housing variants (e.g., North American vs. European) are documented for this handheld unit.

Great for the money
I have used Omega products for many years. I am retired and wanted a good hand held thermometer at a reasonable price. This fits the bill for me.
The unit is right sized with an easy to read display. The thermocouple type on the display is small and difficult to read. Fortunately, you don't do this often. The instructions are not complicated.
Omega offers a wide range of probe configurations so you can purchase one in stock or customize one for your needs.
Both the unit and probe were well packed for shipment.
The first thing I did when I received it was to check the accuracy. I did this with a simple ice bath. The reading was within 0.1 Deg. F. Well within stated accuracy. I have found this to be true of other Omega products, also.
