Supported Applications
The Omega DPS20 Series is a digital panel meter designed for load cell signal measurement. The series supports industrial applications including assembly lines, control panels, and laboratories where high-performance weight monitoring is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DPS20 features a 6-digit red LED display with 14 mm digit height and provides readings from -199999 to 999999. Accuracy at 25°C is specified as 0.05% FS, with thermal stability of 50 ppm/°C. The meter accepts excitation voltage configurable to +5 Vdc or +10 Vdc and supports up to eight standard 350 Ohms cells (at 5Vdc) or four load cells (at 10Vdc). It accommodates 4-wire and 6-wire cell configurations with internal signal ranges of 100mV, 30mV, 20mV, 15mV, 10mV, and 5mV.
Performance includes configurable acquisition speeds of 16, 50, or 60 acq./sec. Step response (0% to 99% of signal) is selectable at 17, 20, or 63 mSec. The front protection rating is NEMA 4 (IP65). Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F), and storage temperature spans -20 to 70°C (-4 to 158°F).
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable output options, power supplies, and mounting dimensions. Key capabilities include:
- Power Supply Options: High voltage (HV) models accept 85 to 265 Vac/dc with isolated 2500 Veff; Low voltage (LV) models accept 11 to 60 Vdc and 24/48 Vac with isolated 1500 Veff.
- Output Signals: Configurable for up to three relay outputs, one or more isolated analog outputs (4/20 mA or 0/10 Vdc), Modbus RTU communications via RS-485, transistor outputs, and SSR control outputs. Analog output accuracy is 0.1% FS with 1000 Vdc isolation.
- Relay Specifications: Relay modules provide three contacts (Com, NO, NC) with a maximum current of 8A resistive load and maximum voltage of 250 Vac continuous. Isolation is rated at 3500 Veff.
- Physical Dimensions: The unit measures 96 x 48 mm (1/8 DIN) front size with a depth of 91 mm including terminals. Panel cut-out dimensions are 92x44 mm, and weight is less than 150 gr (5.3 oz).
- Connections: Signal terminals use plug-in screw terminals with 3.81 mm pitch; power and output options utilize plug-in screw terminals with 5.08 mm pitch.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the DPS20 Series are distinguished by their power supply class (HV or LV) and the combination of output modules installed at positions Opt.1, Opt.2, and Opt.3:
- HV Models: Designed for 85 to 265 Vac/dc input.
- Lv Models: Designed for 11/60 Vdc and 24/48 Vac input.
- Output Configurations: Available with no output, single or multiple relay outputs (R1), analog outputs (AO), Modbus RTU serial output (RTU), or combinations thereof. For example, the DPS20-HV-R1-R1-RTU includes two relay outputs and one Modbus RTU output.
- Display Indicators: Front LEDs 'A' and 'B' indicate gross weight, actual tare value, net weight, units ('stock units'), or activated 'tare' function based on configuration states (on/off/fast flash).

Can a 59k Ohm shunt sensitivity value be used for high load calibration? How would this be done?
Typically shunt calibration involves adding a known resistor across the -ve Signal and -ve Excitaion legs of your Wheatstone bridge of your load cell to simulate a mV/V output. This cannot be done simply with a panel meter, you will need a calibrated load cell and the manufacturer will specify how many kOhm shunt will equal "x" mV/V on the cal cert.

What units does the load cell display? How does it take into account calibration information from the load cell manufacturer?
Hello Mechman, thank you for contacting omega. The unit will display just an absolute value based on what you enter the max reading to be, while scaling the unit. You may scale the meter to display any engineering units. This will not show the actual units itself.
You will have to scale the meter manually before using this unit by using the sensitivity value on the calibration certificate.

Is there a guide on how to send a RTU command to this strain gauge? If not, is there preexisting software that one could use to connect to the strain gauge via the serial port?
Hello, it appears you have emailed pressure@omega.com and you have a ticket number, the engineer is working on your case diligently. In case you have more questions, please email pressure@omega.com (reference Case

Can this be used to measure a rosette strain gauge like the SGD-2-120-RY51?
The DPS20 display are designed to use with strain gage bridge based load cells and display values in units of force. They do not work well if you try to scale them to read units of strain directly. You would be better off using our DP8EPT-006 digital display.

Can a 700 ohm load cell be used with this meter?
The DPS20 display will work with 700 ohm full bridge load cell.
