Supported Applications

The Omega DPF700 series is a programmable digital meter designed as a Ratemeter/Totalizer/Controller. It measures rate from 0.5 Hz to 30 kHz and totalizes up or down from -99,999 to 999,999 or acts as an accumulating stopwatch. The device supports line frequency measurement and Revolutions per Minute (RPM) measurement examples.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DPF700 features a 6-digit, 7-segment red LED display with 14.2 mm H height. Accuracy is specified as ±0.5 LSD of total and 0.01% of the rate ±1.5 LSD. The gate time for rate measurement is 0.30 sec using a 1/x technique.

Input characteristics include:

  • Type: Single input compatible with TTL, CMOS, NPN open collector, contact closure, and magnetic pickup (selected by DIP switch; non-isolated).
  • Level: Maximum 60V; minimum 25 mV rms.
  • Frequency: 30 kHz maximum.
  • Excitation: Regulated at 5.0, 8.2, or 12.4V selected by DIP switch (100 mA maximum).

The meter operates on a power supply of 115 Vac/7.5 to 13 Vdc powered (DPF701) or 230 Vac/7.5 to 13 Vdc powered (DPF702). Physical dimensions are 48 H x 96 W x 152 mm D (1.9 x 3.8 x 6") with a weight of 454 g (1 lb).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options for output, control, and mounting:

  • Power Supply Models: DPF701 (115 Vac/7.5 to 13 Vdc) or DPF702 (230 Vac/7.5 to 13 Vdc).
  • Option Boards (Field Installable):
    • Analog output board: DPF700-A3.
    • Dual 5A relay board: DPF700-R.
    • RS232 output board: DPF700-232.
  • Accessories:
    • 1/8 DIN bumper band (DP40-BB-(*)).
    • 1/8 DIN panel punch (DPP-5).

The analog output is scalable to 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, or 0 to 10 V. The dual relay option provides two Form C relays rated at 5A. RS232 communication and setpoints are available as optional features.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models is the power supply voltage: DPF701 supports 115 Vac/7.5 to 13 Vdc, while DPF702 supports 230 Vac/7.5 to 13 Vdc. Both share identical measurement ranges and display specifications.

Optional boards modify the meter's functionality:

  • The DPF700-A3 adds analog output capability (4–20 mA, 0–20 mA, or 0–10 V).
  • The DPF700-R provides dual 5A Form C relay outputs.
  • The DPF700-232 enables RS232 communication output.

Mounting accessories include the DP40-BB-(*) bumper band, available in colors specified by code: GY (gray), YL (yellow), BK (black), BL (blue), GR (green), RD (red), OR (orange), VL (purple), or WH (white). The standard panel cutout is 45 H x 92 mm D (1.8 x 3.6").

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to set up for rate measurement I'm using this with a turbine flow sensor (model FTB602B) and with the friendly assistance of the Omega tech support, it was easy to get the two working together.
