Supported Applications

The Omega G-DIALTEMP series comprises hermetically sealed, stem-type dial bimetal thermometers designed for general testing and checking by inspectors, technicians, maintenance personnel, and service men. Documented applications include refrigeration systems, hot asphalt monitoring, dairy and food product inspection, air conditioning systems, and stack temperature measurement.

Models GL and HL are specifically identified as Lab and Test Thermometers suitable for measuring temperatures in air, asphalt, babbit, cement, chemicals, food, water, and waste. The series is constructed with a brightly polished stainless steel head, bezel, and stem to facilitate sanitation and easy cleaning.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The G-DIALTEMP series offers an extensive envelope of temperature ranges across Fahrenheit (°F), Celsius (°C), and dual-scale configurations. Available measurement spans include:

• Fahrenheit Ranges: -100 to 100°F, -80 to 120°F, -50 to 300°F, -40 to 160°F, 0 to 200°F, 0 to 220°F, 0 to 250°F, 20 to 240°F, 25 to 125°F, 50 to 300°F, 50 to 500°F, 50 to 550°F, 50 to 650°F, 100 to 800°F, 150 to 750°F, and 200 to 1000°F.
• Celsius Ranges: -50 to 50°C, -50 to 100°C, -40 to 70°C, -20 to 120°C, -10 to 110°C, 0 to 50°C, 0 to 100°C, 0 to 150°C, 0 to 200°C, 0 to 300°C, 0 to 400°C, 50 to 400°C, and 100 to 500°C.
• Dual Scales: Various combinations such as 0 to 200°F / -10 to 90°C and 200 to 1000°F / 100 to 500°C are available with specific division markings for each scale.

Scale divisions vary by model and range, offering resolutions of 1°, 2°, 5°, or 10°. For ranges marked with an asterisk (*), a minimum stem length of 4" is required. The series features stainless steel heads and bezels with optically clear crystals and aluminum dials.

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple head sizes, mounting configurations, and process connections to accommodate diverse installation needs:

• Head Sizes (O.D.): Models Q and QP feature a 1.16" O.D.; Models G and GL have a 1.73" O.D.; Models H and HL measure 2.37" O.D.
• Stem Dimensions: The standard stem diameter is 0.250 in (reducing to 0.24 in at the bushing area). Stem lengths are configurable for Models Q, G, and H (examples include 2-1/2" to 9"). Model QP has a fixed 5" stem; Models GL and HL have a fixed 8" stem.
• Mounting Options: Standard plain bushings are available in 0.330/0.250 in sizes. Threaded NPT mounting options include 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 NPT per ordering examples. A 9/16" hex reset bushing is standard on QP, GL, and HL models; it is available for Models Q, G, and H upon consultation with the Sales Department.
• Special Features: Model QP includes a pocket case with a pen-type clip. An external mounting bracket is offered for Models G and H. A pointed stem option (add "-PS") is available on select models.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes itself through specific model families tailored to head size, portability, and laboratory use:

• Models Q & QP (1.16" Head): Compact dial thermometers with a 0.250 in stem diameter. Model Q allows specification of various stem lengths and mounting types. Model QP is supplied with a pocket case, features a fixed 5" stem, and includes a standard reset bushing.
• Models G & GL (1.73" Head): Standard industrial dial thermometers. Models G offer configurable stem lengths and mounting options including plain or NPT threads with optional external brackets. Model GL is designated for lab/testing use, available only in an 8" plain stem length without threads or additional options.
• Models H & HL (2.37" Head): Larger dial thermometers providing enhanced visibility. Models H support configurable stems and mounting similar to Model G with external bracket availability. Model HL is a lab/testing variant restricted to an 8" plain stem length.
• Dual-Scale Configurations: Specific models offer dual °F/°C scales where division values may differ between the two temperature units (e.g., "2° / 1°").
