Supported Applications
The Omega LC8150 Series consists of low-profile, through-hole compression load cells with a 1.50" OD designed for measuring compressive loads ranging from 0–500 lb to 0–5000 lb (0–50 kgf to 0–2250 kgf). The rugged industrial design is intended for applications involving clamping forces, bolt loading, and other compressive load measurements.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LC8150 series operates within an ambient temperature range of 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F) and a process temperature range of -54 to 121°C (-65 to 250°F). Electrical performance is characterized by a nominal output signal of 2 mV/V with an excitation voltage requirement of 10 Vdc, up to a maximum of 15V. The load resistance must be at least 360 Ω.
Performance specifications include an accuracy class of ±0.5% FSO and repeatability of ±0.1% FSO. Each unit is supplied with a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration certificate and includes 59 kΩ shunt data for verification purposes.
Configuration Options
The series offers extensive configurability through selectable inside diameters (ID) to accommodate various mounting requirements. The overall dimensions are fixed at an OD of 38 mm (1.50") and a height of 13 mm (0.50"). Available ID options include:
- 0.100"
- 0.125"
- 0.200"
- 0.250"
- 0.312"
- 0.375"
- 0.500"
The load cells are constructed entirely of 17-4 PH stainless steel, providing a robust wetted material for industrial environments. Electrical connectivity is provided via a standard 1.5 m (5') 4-conductor shielded cable with the following wire color code:
- Green: +Output
- White: -Output
- Black: -Input
- Red: +Input
The series is compliant with NIST Standard and RoHS regulations. Compatible meters for signal conditioning include the DP41-S, DP25B-S, and DPIS models.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the LC8150 family are distinguished by their specific capacity ratings and inside diameter selections. The model number follows the format LC8150-[ID CODE]-[CAPACITY CODE]. Capacity options range from 100 lb (45 kgf) to 5K (2269 kgf), with intermediate steps at 250, 500, 1K, and 3K. The ID code corresponds directly to the through-hole diameter required for installation.
For example, model LC8150-125-100 denotes a load cell with a 0.125" inside diameter and a 100 lb capacity, while LC8150-375-5K indicates a unit with a 0.375" ID rated for 5000 lb.
