Supported Applications
The Omega CN1A Series is a digital on/off temperature controller designed for general-purpose control applications. The series provides functionality suited to frequent user-adjustable tasks, including hot foil printing, window sealing, and environmental ovens. It supports thermocouple inputs (J, K, T, N) or RTD Pt100 sensors.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CN1A Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 50°C (-4 to 185°F). Measurement ranges vary by sensor type: J thermocouples cover -99 to 700°C (-99 to 999°F); K and N thermocouples span -99 to 999°C (-99 to 999°F); T thermocouples range from -99 to 300°C (-99 to 570°F); and RTD Pt100 inputs support -99 to 400°C (-99 to 700°F).
Accuracy specifications are defined by sensor type. For thermocouples, accuracy is ±0.25% over 90% of the scale range (-50 to 950°C) and ±1% over the extreme 5% of scale limits (-99 to -51 and 950 to 999°C). RTD models offer an accuracy of ±0.60% FS.
The unit conforms to CE generic standards EN50081-1 and EN50082-1 for EMC, and EN61010-1 for low voltage safety.
Power Supply
- Low Voltage: 10 - 32Vac/dc @ 60mA max.
- Mains Voltage: 90 - 260Vac, 50/60 Hz @ 1.5VA max.
Configuration Options
The series is configured for panel mounting with a 1/16 DIN footprint (48 H x 48 W mm; cutout 45 x 45 mm). The front panel features a clear LCD display and two buttons: SET and triangle (increment) for user interaction.
Outputs
- Control Output: SPDT relay, rated @ 3 A, 240 Vac.
- Alarm Output: SPST N.O. (Normally Open) relay, rated @ 3 A, 240 Vac.
Programmable Parameters
The controller includes programmable settings for set point, hysteresis (HY0 to HY9), control action (REV/DIR), and alarm configurations. Available alarm modes include Deviation Alarm (dEu 00-99), High Alarm (ALH SP to 999), Low Alarm (ALL -99 to SP), and Set-point limits (SPH/SPL). A password function restricts access to program parameters.Accessories
The series supports the CNQUENCHARC noise suppression RC snubber (2 leads) for 110 to 230 Vac applications. Memory backup is provided via EEPROM.Key Product Differences
The CN1A Series distinguishes models by input type and power supply voltage:
- CN1A-TC / CN1A-RTD: Standard mains-powered units (90 - 260Vac).
- CN1A-TC-24V / CN1A-RTD-24V: Low-voltage models powered by 10 to 32 Vac/Vdc.
The "TC" designation indicates thermocouple input compatibility (J, K, T, N), while the "RTD" designation specifies Pt100 RTD input. The sensor type parameter is automatically skipped for PT100 models during configuration.

1/16 DIN On-Off LCD Temperature
I will never buy this instrument again. The thermocouple units will not hold a stable temperature. I am seeing drifts of more than 20 deg C. I bought 5 units and they all behave the same way. If I unplug the thermocouple and plug it in again or replace it with another thermocouple I get totally different Temperature readings. If I turn off the power and restore it again I get different readings. I buy many instruments from Omega with no issue but I am very disappointed in this model.

Will this controller read a type K thermocouple at liquid Nitrogen temperature (approximately -200C)? Data sheet suggests it only accepts an input range to -99C, regardless of sensor type.
This on/off controller does not have the capability of reading temperatures below -99C.

Can you please provide details on which types of connections this accepts for thermocouples, and input/output wires?
The CN1A-RTD would use a Female wire quick disconnect terminal for 18 to 22 AWG wire.

Is the electrical connection a simple screw terminal?
Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, the connections will be simple screw terminals but the socket (CN1A-SOCKET) listed under accessories will be needed.
