Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series TVA All Fluoropolymer Flowmeters are variable area flowmeters designed for high purity or corrosive liquid applications. These instruments feature chemically inert wetted components, making them suitable for service with compatible liquids where corrosion resistance is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series TVA operates within a maximum process temperature of 250°F (121°C) and a pressure limit of 100 psig (6.9 bar). However, the maximum allowable service pressure decreases as the service temperature increases; for example, at 60 psig (4.2 bars), the maximum allowable temperature must not exceed 70 deg C (158 deg F).

Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±5% FS @ 70°F (21.1°C) and 14.7 psia (1 atm absolute) with a repeatability of ±0.25%. The series offers a 10:1 turndown ratio and maintains leak integrity at 1 x 10⁷ sccs of helium.

Maximum Allowable Pressure vs Temperature

  • 100 psig (6.9 bars) @ 20°C (68°F)
  • 80 psig @ 40°C (104°F)
  • 60 psig @ 60°C (140°F)
  • 40 psig @ 80°C (176°F)
  • 20 psig @ 100°C (212°F)
  • 0 psig @ 120°C (248°F)

Flow Ranges by Model Family

The series provides direct reading scales with discrete flow rate graduations on a 0 to 10 scale. Available water flow ranges include:

  • Low Range Models (75 mm length): Flow rates from 6.34 GPM (400 L/min) up to 79.2 GPM (5000 L/min).
  • High Range Models (125 mm length): Flow rates from 3.43 GPM (13 L/min) up to 11.9 GPM (45 L/min).

Configuration Options

The Series TVA is available in two primary lengths: 75 mm and 125 mm, with back-connect process connections ranging from 1/4" to 3/4" female NPT. Models are offered with or without built-in valves positioned at the outlet unless otherwise specified.

Wetted Materials

  • Fluwtube: PFA (Teflon)
  • Float and end fittings: PTFE
  • Guide rods: PCTFE

Mounting and Installation Options

The flowmeters must be installed in a vertical position; significant deviation from vertical will affect the flow readings. Panel mounting requires specific hole diameters based on connection size: 3/4" dia for 1/4" NPT models, 7/8" dia for 3/8" NPT models, 1" dia for 1/2" NPT models, and 1-1/4" dia for 3/4" NPT models.

Options

  • NIST traceable calibration certificate for variable water flowmeters (Order Code: NISTCAL-FL2)

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Low Range and High Range models based on length, connection size, and specific flow capacity. Model numbers follow the pattern TVA<MODEL>-<VALVE_OPTION>-<LENGTH>-<CONNECTION_SIZE>.

  • TVA11XX Series: 75 mm length with 1/4" female NPT connections.
  • TVA13XX Series: 75 mm length with 3/8" female NPT connections.
  • TVA22XX Series: 125 mm length with 1/2" female NPT connections.
  • TVA24XX Series: 125 mm length with 3/4" female NPT connections.

Within each model family, variants are available "With Valve" or "Without Valve." For example, the TVA1103 is a 75 mm unit without a valve, while the TVA1113 includes a built-in outlet valve. Disassembly of PFA/Teflon flowmeters is not recommended; critical sealing surfaces and O-rings can be damaged if taken apart.
