Supported Applications
The Omega TH-44000 Series Fast Response Thermistor Sensors are designed for rapid temperature measurement using an exposed thermistor bead element. These sensors feature lead wires and a standard configuration of stripped leads, with an optional phone plug connector available to facilitate connection.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series provides two primary performance envelopes based on the selected thermistor model:
- Standard Interchangeability (±0.2°C): Models TH-44004 through TH-44008 offer a maximum working temperature of 150°C and an interchangeability of ±0.2°C at 0 to 70°C.
- Precision Interchangeability (±0.1°C): Optional thermistor models (part numbers 44030 through 44034) provide tighter interchangeability of ±0.1°C at 0 to 70°C, with a maximum working temperature of 75°C (167°F).
For best stability, the storage and operating range for standard models is -80 to 120°C (-110 to 250°F). Precision interchangeability models are rated for -80 to 75°C (-110 to 167°F) for both storage and working conditions. The series features a maximum response time of 1 second.
Important Usage Note
A warning in the documentation states: "These elements are not intended for direct immersion into liquids." This constraint applies to all configurations within the TH-44000 Series due to the exposed element design.
Configuration Options
The series supports a wide range of resistance values, cable lengths, and connector options. Selection is driven by specific application requirements for interchangeability tolerance and maximum temperature limits.
- Sensor Resistance: Available in 2252 Ω, 3000 Ω, 5000 Ω, 10,000 Ω, and 30,000 Ω at 25°C.
- Cable Construction: Standard configuration includes 1 m (40") of 26 AWG stranded PFA insulated and jacketed cable with stripped leads. The thermistor bead diameter is 2.5 mm / 0.098 in.
- Connector Options: Stripped leads are standard; a phone plug connector is available by adding the suffix '-PP' to the model number.
- Cable Lengths: While 1 m (40") is standard, additional cable lengths can be specified. The required length in inches or meters may be added to the end of the model number for an additional cost.
Key Product Differences
The TH-44000 Series distinguishes between two primary thermistor families based on interchangeability and temperature limits:
- TH-4400X Models (Standard): These models, including TH-44004 through TH-44008, are rated for a maximum working temperature of 150°C with ±0.2°C interchangeability.
- Precision Thermistors: Identified by part numbers such as 44030, 44031, 44032, 44033, and 44034 in the ordering guide. These variants offer ±0.1°C interchangeability but are limited to a maximum working temperature of 75°C (167°F).
Model numbers follow the format TH-4400X-CABLE_LENGTH-T, where 'T' denotes the standard stripped lead configuration. Adding '-PP' indicates the phone plug option, and appending a length value modifies the cable run.
