Supported Applications

The Omega OM-CP-PROCESSX Series consists of battery-powered, low-level DC current data loggers designed for remote monitoring or multiple points in a central location. These devices enable the simultaneous logging of all channels with high memory capacity and increased download speeds compared to previous generations. The series supports native measurement units that can be scaled via software to display engineering units from different sensor types, including temperature, CO2, flow rate, and more.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The X-Series operates within an ambient environment of -20 °C to +60 °C (-4 °F to +140 °F) at 0 %RH to 95 %RH non-condensing. Measurement performance varies by model range:

  • 30 mA Model: Range of -2 mA to +30 mA with ±0.016 mA calibrated accuracy and 0.0005 mA resolution.
  • 160 mA Model: Range of ±160 mA with ±0.16 mA calibrated accuracy and 0.005 mA resolution.
  • 3 A Model: Range of ±3 A with ±0.009 A calibrated accuracy and 0.001 A resolution.

All models feature an analog conversion time (response) of 150 ms, a temperature coefficient of < 50 ppm/°C typical, and input impedance values ranging from 10 Ω to 0.1 Ω depending on the current range. Overload protection is rated at ±316 mA for the 30 mA model, ±1000 mA for the 160 mA model, and ±6 A for the 3 A model (within -0.3 V to +3.5 V). The maximum voltage between inputs to ground must remain within 3 V.

Configuration Options

The series is available in four channel configurations: 4, 8, 12, and 16 channels. Each unit features a black anodized aluminum enclosure with 3-input removable screw terminals for electrical connection. Memory capacity per channel varies by the number of enabled channels:

  • 4-channel: 1,048,064 readings
  • 8-channel: 524,032 readings
  • 12-channel: 349,354 readings
  • 16-channel: 262,016 readings

Data logging rates are configurable from 4 Hz up to 1 reading every 24 hours. Start modes include software-programmable immediate start or delay start up to 6 months in advance. The devices utilize non-volatile solid-state memory and support real-time recording via PC connection using the included USB-A to micro USB cable (460,800 baud). Power is supplied by a user-replaceable 9 V lithium battery with an 18-month typical life or an external universal power adapter. Each channel can be named with up to a ten-digit title.

Key Product Differences

Variants are distinguished primarily by the number of channels and the selected current measurement range (30 mA, 160 mA, or 3 A). Model numbers follow the pattern OM-CP-<CHANNEL>-<CURRENT_RANGE>-PROCESS-A2. Specific examples include:

  • 4-channel models: OM-CP-QUADPROCESS-30MA-A2, -160MA-A2, and -3A-A2.
  • 8-channel models: OM-CP-OCTPROCESS-30MA-A2, -160MA-A2, and -3A-A2.
  • 12-channel models: OM-CP-X12PROCESS-30MA-A2, -160MA-A2, and -3A-A2.
  • 16-channel models: OM-CP-X16PROCESS-30MA-A2, -160MA-A2, and -3A-A2.

Physical dimensions increase with channel count: 4 and 8-channel units measure 2.70 in x 7.25 in x 1.22 in (65.6 mm x 184.2 mm x 31.0 mm); the 12-channel unit measures 2.70 in x 7.25 in x 1.68 in (65.6 mm x 184.2 mm x 42.7 mm); and the 16-channel unit measures 2.70 in x 7.25 in x 2.14 in (65.6 mm x 184.2 mm x 54.4 mm). The series carries CE and ROHS approvals.
