Supported Applications
The Omega LVN Series comprises vertical mount, high-temperature liquid level switches constructed of 316 SS for chemical resistance. These units are designed for level control in medical applications, water purification systems, and chemical plant environments. The series is engineered to handle rough or corrosive applications where consistent monitoring is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LVN Series operates within a process temperature range of -40 to 149 °C (-40 to 300 °F). Maximum pressure ratings vary by model: the LVN-40 is rated for 900 psi, while the LVN-50 supports up to 1000 psi. The series utilizes an SPST switch with a rating of 50 VA. Switch actuation occurs at approximately half the distance from the end of the stem to mounting, or halfway through the float travel in liquid with a specific gravity of 1.0.
Units are sealed with potting compound and feature NEMA-6 rated enclosures when terminated with appropriate connectors (e.g., NEMA 6), making them suitable for submersion in moisture-laden environments. The design minimizes the effects of shock, vacuum, or vibration on switch performance.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options across three primary models to accommodate different tank depths and pressure requirements:
- Housing & Materials: All wetted parts, including the stem and float, are constructed of 316 SS.
- Process Connections: LVN-40 and LVN-50 models feature a 1/8" NPT male fitting. The LVN-52 model utilizes a larger 1/4" NPT connection.
- Float Specific Gravity: Floats are sized for specific liquid densities: LVN-40 (0.72), LVN-50 (0.70), and LVN-52 (0.64).
- Electrical Output: Standard lead wires are 20 AWG, 24" PVC.
The switch is user-selectable as normally open or normally closed by reversing the float orientation or mounting position of the unit.
Key Product Differences
Differences between models are defined by pressure ratings and physical dimensions:
- LVN-40: Rated for 900 psi with a 1/8" NPT connection. Overall length is approximately 54 mm (2 1/8"). The float measures 25 mm DIA x 25 mm TALL.
- LVN-50: Rated for 1000 psi with a 1/8" NPT connection. Overall length is approximately 54 mm (2 1/8"). The float is a 25 mm DIA sphere.
- LVN-52: Rated for 975 psi with a 1/4" NPT connection. This model features an overall length of approximately 87 mm (3 7/16") and utilizes a larger 51 mm DIA sphere float.
