Supported Applications

The Omega LVCN1700 Series is a general-purpose ultrasonic level controller designed for non-contact liquid level detection and control. The series provides the ability to manage up to three unique devices, including pumps, valves, or alarms. According to product documentation, this technology is suited for corrosive, sticky, or dirty liquids. Common application contexts include pump lift stations, sumps, and day tanks.

The embedded level controller can replace external control hardware by supporting simplex (one pump or valve), duplex (two pumps), or triplex (three pumps) level control modes with selectable time delay and fail-safe logic.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Performance specifications vary by model range. The LVCN1700 Series offers measurement ranges of 4" to 9.8' (10 cm to 3m) for the LVCN1710, 8" to 18.0' (20 cm to 5.5m) for the LVCN1718, and 8" to 26.2' (20 cm to 8m) for the LVCN1726. Repeatability is specified as 0.25" (6.35 mm). Dead band values are listed as 4" (10 cm) for the LVCN1710 and 8" (20 cm) for the LVCN1718 and LVCN1726 models.

Operating conditions include an ambient temperature range of -40 to 71°C (-40 to 160°F) and a process temperature range of -20 to 60°C (-7 to 140°F). The Maximum Working Pressure (MWP) is rated at 30 psi (2 bar). Temperature compensation is automatic. The enclosure rating is NEMA 4X (IP65), featuring a water-tight membrane vent.

Configuration Options

The series supports three primary model variants distinguished by measurement range and process connection size:

• LVCN1710: Range 3 m (9.8'), standard 1" NPT process mount.
• LVCN1718: Range 5.5 m (18'), standard 2" NPT process mount.
• LVCN1726: Range 8 m (26.2'), standard 2" NPT process mount.

All models feature a polycarbonate enclosure with brass and stainless hardware. The transducer material is Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), and the mounting gasket is FKM. Electrical connections include dual, ½" NPT conduit entrances. Power supply requirements are 95 to 250 Vac, consuming 20 W @ 120 Vac.

Output capabilities include three SPDT relays with a contact rating of 60 VA at 1A maximum (also listed as 2A, 30 VDC; 60 W DC, 125 VA; 220 VDC, 250 VAC in supporting documentation). Contact fail-safety is programmable to open, close, or hold last. An isolated, sinking loop output of 4/20 mA (operating at 12 to 28 VDC) is available.

Configuration is performed via an integral pushbutton interface with a 6-character LCD display showing level and relay status in units of inch, cm, percent, feet, or meter. Memory is non-volatile.

The LVCN1700 Series distinguishes models primarily by measurement range and process connection dimensions:

• LVCN1710 vs. LVCN1718/LVCN1726: The LVCN1710 provides a shorter range (up to 3 m) with a smaller beam width of 5 cm (2") and utilizes a 1" NPT process mount. The LVCN1718 and LVCN1726 models offer extended ranges up to 5.5 m and 8 m respectively, feature a wider beam width of 7.6 cm (3"), and utilize a 2" NPT process mount.
• Thread Options: Models are available with standard NPT threads or optional G threads by adding the suffix "-G" to the model number (e.g., LVCN1710-G).

A mounting reducer, part number LVM31, is offered as an accessory for 1 to 2 NPT conversion on the LVCN1710 series. Replacement FKM gaskets are available with specific part numbers: Part #200128 for the LVCN1710 series and Part #220129 for the LVCN1718 or LVCN1726 series.
