Supported Applications

The Omega TER, TEFE, SERP, and SEFE series comprises thermocouple probes designed specifically for plastic extruders. These sensors are engineered to mount directly in extruder heads or die adapters of injection molding machines, with the sensor tip projected into the plastic melt.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is constructed from Type 316 Stainless Steel and supports service temperatures up to 900°F. Standard probes feature GROUNDED junctions. The sensors are compatible with plastic melt media, utilizing a quick-disconnect termination for electrical connection.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions across four model families (TERP, TEFE, SERP, SEFE) to accommodate various extruder geometries. Selection is based on thermocouple type, element configuration, and physical mounting requirements.

• Thermocouple Types: Calibration codes J, K, T, or E (CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA® elements for Type K).
• Element Configuration: Available in single or dual element probes. Dual element flexible cables are supplied in 6" lengths as standard; greater lengths require consultation with Sales.
• Housing Styles: Offered in rigid plug (TERP, SERP) or flexible extension models (TEFE, SEFE). Housing materials include blue plastic, yellow plastic, and black plastic.
• Connectors: DTC Connector or OST Connector options are available.
• Junction Options: UNgrounded probes are available for an additional cost.

Dimensional configurations vary by model number suffix, defining the "A" dimension (projection length) and "B" dimension (overall length). The series supports multiple "A" dimensions including FLUSH/Flush, ¼", ½", ¾", and 1", paired with standard "B" lengths of 3" or 6".

Key Product Differences

The four model prefixes distinguish the physical form factor and mounting style:

• TERP Series: Rigid plug probes. Model numbers range from TERP-(*)-1 to TERP-(*)-10, covering "A" dimensions of FLUSH through 1" with "B" lengths of 3" or 6".
• TEFE Series:** Flexible extension models. Configurations mirror the rigid series (Flush/¼"–1") with standard 3" and 6" overall lengths.
• SERP Series: Rigid plug probes available in Flush through 1" "A" dimensions at 3" or 6" "B" lengths.
• SEFE Series:** Flexible extension models with identical dimensional options to the SERP series.

Custom assemblies are available upon consultation. The model number format follows (Prefix)-(Calibration Code)-(Dimension Suffix); for example, TERP-K-8 signifies a dual element rigid plug probe with an "A" dimension of ½", a "B" dimension of 6", and Type K elements.
