Supported Applications
The Omega TPD36 and TPD37 series are digital stem thermometers designed for temperature measurement. These instruments feature a stainless steel probe with a protective cover, intended for general-purpose testing where portability is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series offers two distinct measurement ranges to accommodate different process temperatures:
- TPD36: -50 to 150°C (-58 to 302°F)
- TPD37: -50 to 280°C (-58 to 536°F)
Accuracy specifications vary by temperature range and model. For the TPD36, accuracy is ±1°C from -20 to 120°C (±2°F from -4 to 248°F), otherwise ±2°C (±4°F). The TPD37 provides higher resolution at lower temperatures with stepped tolerances: ±1°C from -20 to 120°C; ±2°C for ranges of -50 to -20°C and 120 to 150°C; ±4°C from 150 to 200°C; and ±6°C from 200 to 280°C. In Fahrenheit, the TPD37 accuracy is ±2°F from -4 to 248°F; ±4°F for ranges of -58 to -4°F and 248 to 302°F; ±8°F from 302 to 392°F; and ±11°F from 392 to 536°F.
Display resolution is 0.1° for readings between -19.9 and 199.9°, with a resolution of 1° for other ranges. The unit size measures 17 H x 33 D x 36 mm L (0.7 x 1.3 x 1.4"). Ambient operating temperature is specified as -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F).
Configuration Options
The TPD36 and TPD37 models share a common physical design but differ in measurement envelope. Key configurable or fixed attributes include:
- Sensor Element: Stainless steel probe with protective cover.
- Probe Dimensions: 3.5 Dia. x 125 mm L (0.14 x 5").
- Sampling Time: TPD36 samples at 1 second; TPD37 samples at 0.5 second.
- User Interface: Buttons for On/Off and °C/°F switching.
- Power Supply: One 1.5 V, PH-BATT-3 battery (included).
- Auto Power-Off: Activates after 10 minutes of inactivity.
The unit weight with the probe cover is 21 g (0.7 oz) for the TPD36 and 26 g (0.9 oz) for the TPD37.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the two models in this series is the maximum temperature capability and associated accuracy profile. The TPD36 covers a range up to 150°C, while the TPD37 extends measurement capability to 280°C with corresponding stepped accuracy tolerances at higher temperatures. Both models utilize identical probe diameters (3.5 Dia.) but differ in sampling speed, with the high-range TPD37 offering faster updates.
