Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series TE-TNS Stainless Steel Thermowells separate temperature instruments from surrounding process media. They are designed for use with the Series TE and TE-I Immersion Temperature Sensors to provide protection against aggressive media, high pressures, and flow rates. The thermowell design allows for quick installation of sensors without draining the process.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports two construction methods with distinct performance envelopes:

• Fabricated (welded): Process temperature up to 1000°F (538°C); pressure rating of 140 psi.
• Machined: Process temperature up to 1200°F (648°C). Pressure ratings vary by material: 3700 psi for 304 SS and 5500 psi for 316 SS.

The wetted materials are available in 304 Stainless Steel or 316 Stainless Steel to provide corrosion resistance. Fabricated units consist of a tube closed at the tip by a welded solid tip, while machined thermowells are manufactured from barstock.

Configuration Options

The Series TE-TNS offers configurable lengths and connection types across its model range:

• Lengths: Available in 2.5", 4", 6", 8", 9", 12", and 18" options.
• Materials: Offered in 304 SS or 316 SS.
• Construction Types: Fabricated (welded) or Machined.

Process connections vary by model and construction type. Machined thermowells feature internal/external connection pairs such as "1/4" NPT / 1/2" NPT" or "1/2" NPT / 3/4" NPT." Fabricated (welded) models utilize a "1/2" NPSM / 1/2" NPT" configuration. The model number guide follows the format TE-TNS-- (example: TE-TNS-N254N-12).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by material grade, construction method, and insertion length. Machined models include part numbers such as TE-TNS-N044N-12 (304 SS) and TE-TNS-N065N-14 (316 SS). Fabricated models, identified in the model chart with a "Fabricated" construction designation, are available only in 304 SS for lengths ranging from 2.5" to 18".
