Supported Applications
The Omega TAT400 Series consists of general-purpose tank immersion heaters designed for heating water in tanks or reservoirs. These units are intended for over-the-side installation, featuring a cold riser that extends to the top of the container.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates on 120V or 240V AC power and is compatible with water media. Temperature control is managed by an adjustable vapor-proof thermostat set within a range of 13 to 46°C (55 to 115°F). A hi-limit cut switch provides safety protection, opening at 52°C (125°F) if the primary thermostat fails and contacts stick closed; this limit can be manually reset after repair or replacement. The heated section measures 178 mm (7 inch).

Configuration Options
The TAT400 Series is configured with a 316 Stainless Steel (Bright Annealed) immersion section and wetted materials. Units include a cord set with a 3-Wire Grounding Plug, specifically NEMA 5 to 15P for 120V models or NEMA 6 to 30P for 240V models.
Available Configurations
Variants differ by cord length (1.2 m / 4' or 1.8 m / 6'), wattage, voltage, and overall dimensions:
- Cord Lengths: 1.2 m (4') or 1.8 m (6')
- Voltage Options: 120V AC or 240V AC
- Power Ratings: Models include a 1440-watt configuration at 120V and a 6000-watt configuration at 240V.
- Watt Density: Available in configurations such as 51 watt/in² (for the 6000W model) or 13 watt/in² (for the 1440W model).
Housing and Mounting Dimensions
The series offers two primary dimensional profiles based on voltage and power requirements:
- Profile A (e.g., TAT40012/TAT40017): Overall dimension A is 1010 mm (39.75 inch); Dimension B is 445 mm (17.5 inch).
- Profile B (e.g., TAT40016/TAT40013): Specific dimensions for the lower wattage/voltage configuration are defined in the selection table.
Key Product Differences
The series includes specific model numbers that combine cord length, sheath material, and electrical ratings. For example, TAT40017 is a 6000-watt immersion heater operating at 240 Vac with an 1.8 m (6') cord.
