TBL-Series

Supported Applications

The Omega TBL Series and BLCS/BLCK-MH Series are over-the-side immersion heaters designed for salt bath and deep tank heating applications. These units serve underground tanks, railroad tank cars, oil storage, asphalt processing, and high viscosity fluids.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series encompasses two primary performance envelopes based on power output and element configuration:

• TBL Series: Ranges from 3 kW to 7.5 kW, operating at 1 phase with a watt density of 20 W/in².
• BLCS/BLCK-MH Series: Ranges from 7.5 kW (listed as 6 kW in dimensions table) to 24 kW, available for regular oil applications at 18 W/in² or fuel oil at 12 W/in².

All models operate on 240V or 480V power supplies. The TBL Series is single-phase only; the BLCS/BLCK-MH Series supports both 1 and 3 phase configurations depending on the model number designation.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable sheath materials, blade geometries, and mounting options to accommodate specific installation requirements:

• Sheath Materials: Available in Steel or Incoloy® for the TBL Series.
• Blade Configurations (BLCS/BLCK-MH): Offered with straight blades (BLCS) or circular blades (BLCK-MH).
• Housing & Connections: Features a vapor resistant cast iron terminal box with a 1¼" conduit hub and suspension bracket.
• Special Options: Configurable for special voltage or wattage, factory installed ¾" sludge legs, and custom riser heights.

The BLCS/BLCK-MH Series dimensions vary by power rating, with overall lengths (Dimension A) constant at 12 ft in the documented table rows for oil applications.

Key Product Differences

Distinctions between series families are defined by power capacity and element design:

• TBL Series (3–7.5 kW): Single-phase units with steel or Incoloy sheath elements, identified by model numbers such as TBL-1301/* for steel and TBL-A-131/* for Incoloy.
• BLCS/BLCK-MH Series (6–24 kW): Higher capacity units available in 1 or 3 phase. The BLCS models utilize straight blades, while the BLCK-MH models feature circular blades. Model numbers include power and voltage designations, such as BLCK-MH618/240/*.

Fuel oil applications for the BLCS/BLCK-MH Series require a watt density of 12 W/in² and are available upon contact with OMEGALUX. Voltage must be designated in the model number (e.g., inserting "240" or "480").
