The Omega TLS and KTLS series comprises stainless steel L-shaped immersion heaters designed for over-the-side installation in tanks. These units are engineered to heat mildly corrosive fluids, with the heated portion immersed along the side or at the bottom of a vessel. The product overview identifies specific compatible media including alkaline cleaners (electrified), alkaline soaking cleaners, copper sulfate, electroless copper, electro cleaners, mild acid baths, wash tanks, dip tanks containing alkali, Oakite solutions, caustic soda, detergents, and other aqueous solutions.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is rated for power outputs ranging from 2 to 18 kW. Electrical supply options include 120V, 240V, and 480V in both single-phase (1 Phase) and three-phase (3P) configurations. The heating elements utilize a stainless steel sheath with a surface loading of 40 W/in². Units are UL and CSA certified and manufactured in the USA.

Configuration Options

The TLS-KTLS series offers configurable dimensions, power ratings, and electrical connections to accommodate various tank geometries and process requirements.

• Housing Styles: Available as straight (TLS) or curved/L-shaped (KTLS) elements for over-the-side mounting.
• Riser Lengths: Riser dimensions vary by model, with documented lengths of 91 cm (36 in) and 121 cm (48 in).
• Tank Clearance Requirements: Minimum tank clearance values range from 27 cm (10¾ in) to 133 cm (52½ in), dependent on the specific kW rating and element configuration.
• Electrical Connections: Features a terminal box for electrical connection. Optional thermostat kits are available to fit into the heater terminal box.
• Element Configurations: Models are offered with two or three heating elements, influencing overall weight which ranges from 8 lb (4 kg) to 18 lb (8 kg).

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between straight and curved element geometries through the model prefix: TLS denotes a straight configuration, while KTLS indicates an L-shaped or curved design. Model numbers follow the format TLS--- (e.g., TLS-220A-036/120). Voltage designation is required in the model number; for example, "240" represents 240V. Three-phase power configurations require adding the suffix "3P" to the model number.

Specific variations include:

• Straight Elements (TLS): Designed with a straight riser and heating section, available in two-element or three-element constructions across various kW ratings.
• L-Shaped/Curved Elements (KTLS): Feature an L-shaped geometry to reduce the required tank clearance compared to equivalent straight models. For instance, a 2 kW unit with a 91 cm riser requires 31 cm of clearance in the TLS configuration versus 27 cm for the KTLS variant.
• Voltage and Phase Options: Models are available at specific voltage points (e.g., /120, /240, /480) with or without the three-phase suffix. Some lower kW ratings may be limited to single-phase voltages in certain configurations as indicated by model availability.
