Supported Applications

The Omega MTS Series consists of screw plug immersion heaters designed for process water applications. These units feature a 1 NPT stainless steel passivated screw plug and stainless steel passivated elements to provide heating in compatible fluid systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates on 120 and 240V, 1 phase power supplies. Power ratings range from 0.75 kW to 3 kW with a watt density between 64 W/in² and 86 W/in² depending on the specific model configuration. Each unit contains one heating element.

Safe operation requires use with an approved temperature control device, as noted in product documentation.

Configuration Options

The MTS Series is available with two enclosure types to suit different installation environments:

• E1 General Purpose Enclosure: NEMA 1 (IP00) rated. Heaters in this configuration are UL listed and CSA certified.
• E2 Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant Enclosure: Designed for moisture resistance; these units are CSA NRTL/C certified but are not intended for use in hazardous areas.

Model numbers follow the format MTS-<kW><Voltage>/*, with specific examples including MTS-750/240 (0.75 kW at 240 Vac). The series supports various power and voltage combinations across the documented range.

Dimensions

Overall dimensions vary by model based on wattage:

• E1 Dimensions: Overall length (B) ranges from 16 cm (6⅜ in) for lower power models to 50 cm (19⅝ in) for the 3 kW unit. The conduit hole is sized for a 3/4 NPT Conduit.
• E2 Dimensions: Overall length (B) ranges from 16 cm (6⅜ in) to 50 cm (19⅝ in). These enclosures feature two 3/4 NPT conduit openings.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by power rating, voltage input, and enclosure type. The E2 models carry a higher price point compared to their E1 counterparts for equivalent wattage and voltage specifications. Dimensional differences between enclosures include conduit opening configurations and minor variations in overall length (B) measurements.
