Supported Applications
The Omega "SNAP-IN" FITTINGS FOR FLEXIBLE AND COPPER TUBING series provides push-to-connect solutions designed for food service, research, industrial laboratories, fluid applications, and compressed air systems. These fittings are engineered to interface with plastic tubing (polyethylene, nylon, polyurethane), braided tube, soft metal tubes such as brass, copper, and mild steel, and hard metal tubes including stainless steel.
Applications include vacuum service and environments requiring rapid disconnect or reusability. For use with chemicals or other potentially aggressive liquids, the series documentation advises consulting Technical Sales Staff for guidance.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports specific temperature and pressure envelopes depending on the media:
- Air:-25 to 75°C (-14 to 167°F) at pressures of 0 to 150 lbs. psi.
- Water:1 to 60°C (33 to 140°F) at pressures of 0 to 150 lbs. psi.
The fittings are suitable for vacuum service and can withstand temperatures and pressures beyond normal working conditions depending on the tube used; specific guidance is available from Technical Sales Staff. Tube outside diameter tolerances range from +01/-03 to +01/-04 inches across sizes 5/32 inch through 1/2 inch.
Configuration Options
The series offers a modular design with click-and-snap installation, featuring food-grade materials including Acetal Copolymer bodies and collets (with stainless steel teeth) and Nitrile rubber O-rings. The product line meets ISO 9001 standards and includes FDA Approved Material and NSF certifications.
Configurable connection types include:
- Tubing Sizes:5/32, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 1/2 inch tube ODs.
- Fitting Styles:Union Tee, Union Elbow, Reducing Elbow, Threaded Adaptor, Fixed Elbow, Female Connector, Stem Adaptor, Check Valve, Cross, Locking Clip, Tube to Hose Stems (Series FT-25), and Tube to Hose Elbows (Series FT-29).
- Thread Types:NPTF, MFL, FFL, UNS, BSW, BSP TAPER, and BSP PARALLEL.
For braided tube applications, the series recommends using Tube to Hose Stems (Series FT-25) and Elbows (Series FT-29), with clamps recommended for retaining braided tubes on bars. For soft tubing or thin wall tube, supports are recommended.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series differ by geometry and connection interface:
- Unions & Connectors:Union Tee (FT-02xx), Union Elbow (FT-03xx), Union Connector (FT-04xx).
- Adaptors:Threaded Adaptor (FT-01xx) and Stem Adaptor (FT-05xx) provide transitions between tube ODs and threaded ports.
- Hose Interfaces:Tube to Hose Stems (Series FT-25) and Tube to Hose Elbows (Series FT-29) connect tubing to hose IDs ranging from 3/16 inch to 1/2 inch.
- Dividers & Branches:Includes Reducing Branch Tee, 3-Way Divider, 2-Way Divider, and Unequal 2-Way Divider configurations.
