Supported Applications

The Omega SA1XL series consists of self-adhesive polyimide fast response surface thermocouples designed for high or low temperature applications. These sensors measure surface temperature and are configured as an "All-in-One" solution with fiberglass-insulated wire leads.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SA1XL series meets or exceeds special limits of error (SLE) and EN 60584-2, Tolerance Class 1. The measurement range depends on the mounting method: up to 260°C (500°F) when used as a self-adhesive thermocouple, and up to 315°C (600°F) when cemented in place using OMEGABOND® Air Set Cements.

Response time is less than 0.15 seconds. The sensor features polyimide/fiberglass-junction insulation with fiberglass-insulated lead wire.

Configuration Options

The series is available in J, K, T, and E calibrations. Standard stock lengths are offered as 1 m (40"), 2 m (80"), or 3 m (120"); custom lengths are also available. Products are supplied in convenient 5-packs.

Electrical Connections

Stripped leads are standard. Optional electrical connections include:

• Molded miniature connector with integral strain relief (add suffix '-SRTC' to model number)
• Male straight M8 plug: add 'M8-S-M'
• Male right-angled M8 plug: add 'M8-R-M'
• Male straight M12 plug: add 'M12-S-M'
• Male right-angled M12 plug: add 'M12-S-M' (as printed in source)

• Stainless Steel Overbraid: Add suffix '-SB' to model number.
• Cements for High-Temperature Mounting (up to 315°C / 600°F):

Compatible OMEGABOND® Air Set Cements include:

• OB-100-16: Fast-setting, 2-part epoxy (sets in 8 to 12 min.)
• OB-200-16: High temperature, 2-part epoxy
• OB-400: Powder cement (mix with water)
• OB-700: Powder cement (mix with water)

The model number guide follows the format SA1XL-<CALIBRATION>-<LENGTH>-<CONNECTOR>-<OVERBRAID>. Examples include:

• SA1XL-K-72-SB: 5-pack, self-adhesive thermocouple, 2 m (80"), stripped ends with stainless steel overbraid.
• SA1XL-EI-SRTC: Includes molded SMP male connector options as listed in the To Order table.
