Supported Applications

The Omega Series S Sanitary Thermowells (S-260 and S-385) are designed for temperature measurement in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and research applications. These units feature a standard threaded well compatible with ¼" or ¾" diameter elements.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is constructed from A.I.S.I.-316 stainless steel for both the housing and sheath materials. Pressure ratings vary by temperature as follows: 7000 psi @ 70°F, 7000 psi @ 200°F, 6400 psi @ 400°F, 6200 psi @ 600°F, 6100 psi @ 800°F, 5100 psi @ 1000°F, and 2500 psi @ 1200°F. The internal process connection utilizes a ½ NPSM thread which accepts both NPT and NPS male threads.

Series Dimensions

  • S-260 Series: Bore diameter of .260" (+0.005 / -0.003); Shank Diameter (Q) varies by model; Stem Length (A) and Insertion Length (U) are configurable.
  • S-385 Series: Bore diameter of .385" (+0.005 / -0.003); Shank Diameter (Q) is 49/64"; Stem Length (A) and Insertion Length (U) are configurable.

Configuration Options

The series supports Tri-Grip (Tri-Clamp® compatible) flange connections. Standard flange sizes include 1½", 2", and 2½"; 3" and 4" flanges are available upon request. Custom wells in special materials can be ordered with prices on request.

  • Shank Styles: Configurable with "No step down" or "Step down" profiles.
  • Insertion Lengths (U): Options include 1⅝", 2½", 4½", 7½", and 10½" depending on the model series and flange size.
  • Stem Lengths (A): Available in increments of 2½", 4", 6", 9", and 12" to match insertion requirements.
  • Certifications: RoHS compliant.

To Order Model Number Guide

The model number format is: S-<SERIES>-<FLANGE_SIZE>-<SHANK_STYLE>-<STEM_LENGTH>-<INSERTION_LENGTH>-<SHANK_DIA>. An example configuration is 1 ½-S-260-U2 ½-316SS.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the two series lies in the bore diameter and resulting shank dimensions. The S-260 series accommodates a .260" bore with shank diameters of either ½" (no step down) or ¾" (step down). The S-385 series features a larger .385" bore with a fixed 49/64" shank diameter. Both series share the same flange size options, material composition, and pressure-temperature rating envelope.
