Supported Applications
The FL-500 Series proximity switches are designed for use with FL-500 Series flowmeters that have 1 FNPT end fittings. They generate electrical signals at predetermined flow rates, adding versatility and performance to the flowmeter by enabling alarms, interlocks, or control actions when flow crosses a set point.
Each switch kit contains a ring-shaped ceramic magnet that fits around the float inside the flowmeter and a proximity switch mounted in a rugged housing that clamps onto the flow tube. This lets an existing FL-500 flowmeter be upgraded to signaling duty in the field without replacing the meter. The switches are RoHS compliant and carry a 1 YEAR WARRANTY.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The output is a 3-wire SPDT electric switch. Contact ratings are 12 Vdc at 0.25A, 28 Vdc at 0.107A, and 120 Vac at 0.025A (at 77°F). The switch activates over a 25% of full scale band; above and below this band, the relay deactivates.
The switch housing measures 152 x 89 mm and uses a 1/2 NPT electrical connection, mounting onto flowmeters with 1 FNPT end fittings. Each kit ships with one magnet, one switch housing, one foam gasket, two half collars, four cap screws with washers, an operator's manual, and two nuts (needed only when two switches are mounted on one flowmeter).
Configuration Options
The two variants are functionally identical proximity switch kits that differ only in which flowmeter body size they fit — a consequence of the collar and magnet sizing needed for the flow tube diameter.
The FL-500-RI is sized for the smaller-bore flowmeters, while the FL-500-R2 is sized for the larger-bore flowmeters. Both deliver the same 3-wire SPDT switching, the same contact ratings, and the same 25% of full scale activation band.
