Pitot Tubes

  • Designed for duct airflow sensing: PT Series plastic Pitot tubes measure differential velocity pressure in VAV boxes, main ducts, and branch duct systems.
  • Supports velocity or static pressure monitoring: Use both high and low ports for airflow velocity pressure, or the high port only for duct static pressure applications.
  • Multiple insertion lengths: Available in 3", 5.2", 7.5", and 9.7" lengths to fit recommended duct sizes from 4" to 18".
  • Improves airflow visibility: Helps monitor fan operation and true airflow in HVAC systems with varying static pressure.
  • Simple tubing connection: 3/16" OD ports are designed for connection to 1/4" OD poly tubing and compatible differential pressure gauges or transmitters.
  • Installer-friendly mounting: Integrated flange, gasket, and foam pad help seal the duct opening and reduce vibration after installation.
  • Broad airflow range: Recommended for 200 to 3000 FPM airflow, supporting common non-critical HVAC duct monitoring applications.
  • Lightweight ABS construction: Plastic body with UL94-HB flammability rating offers a practical solution for commercial HVAC installations.
  • Compliance and warranty support: RoHS2, WEEE, and REACH compliant, with ACI warranty coverage for long-term confidence.

Supported Applications

The ACI PT Series Pitot Tubes are designed to sense air flow velocity in VAV and other small ducts found in HVAC systems. These instruments monitor fan operation and true air flow with varying amounts of static pressure in non-critical applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series measures an air flow range from 200 FPM (60.96 MPM) minimum to 3000 FPM (914.4 MPM) maximum. The operating temperature range is 40 to 120°F (4 to 49°C), with a storage temperature range of -40 to 185°F (-40 to 85°C). Operating humidity is rated for 0 to 90% RH non-condensing.

Installation Guidelines

To achieve best results, the insertion length must reach the midpoint of the duct with at least 10 straight duct diameters upstream and downstream. The tube should be mounted such that the arrow on the pitot tube faces in the direction of air flow and is kept free of dirt and debris.

Configuration Options

The PT Series offers four insertion lengths to accommodate recommended duct sizes ranging from 4" (10.2 cm) to 18" (45.7 cm). Each unit includes a foam pad adhered to the mounting plate to seal the installation opening and reduce vibrations.

  • PT 3": 3.0" (7.6 cm) insertion length; 1 set of sensing points; for ducts 4 - 6" (10.2 - 15.2 cm).
  • PT 5.2": 5.2" (13.2 cm) insertion length; 2 sets of sensing points; for ducts 6 - 8" (15.2 - 20.3 cm).
  • PT 7.5": 7.5" (19.1 cm) insertion length; 3 sets of sensing points; for ducts 8 - 10" (20.3 - 25.4 cm).
  • PT 9.7": 9.7" (24.6 cm) insertion length; 4 sets of sensing points; for ducts 10 - 18" (25.4 - 45.7 cm).

The housing material is ABS with a UL-94 HB flammability rating. Tubing connections are provided as a 3/16" OD (4.8 mm) connection for ¼" (6.4 mm) OD Poly Tubing.

Key Product Differences

Variants differ primarily by insertion length, the number of sensing points, and the corresponding recommended duct size range. The series is covered by ACI's Two (2) Year Limited Warranty and carries RoHS2, WEEE, and Reach approvals.
