Supported Applications

The Omega GTF6 and GTF9 series are side mount fluoropolymer covered immersion heaters designed for liquid heating applications. These units feature stainless steel elements coated with a fluoropolymer sheath, providing corrosion resistance in demanding chemical environments. The series includes overtemperature protection via a field-replaceable thermal fuse.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The GTF6 and GTF9 heaters operate on 3-phase power at either 240V or 480V, with available power ratings ranging from 2 kW to 18 kW. The design maintains a watt density of 10 W/in² across the series. Electrical connections are housed in a moisture-resistant terminal enclosure.

Key performance parameters include:

  • Voltage Options: 240V and 480V, 3 Phase
  • Power Range: 2 kW to 18 kW (depending on model)
  • Watt Density: 10 W/in²
  • Protection: Field-replaceable thermal fuse for overtemperature protection

Configuration Options

The series is configured by element count (6 or 9 elements) and power rating. Model numbers follow the format GTF6-<kW>-<Volts> or GTF9-<kW>-<Volts>. The ordering table lists specific configurations with corresponding dimensions A and B, weight in pounds, and model-specific guard options.

  • GTF6 Series (6 Elements): Available from 2 kW to 12 kW. Dimensions vary by power rating; for example, the GTF6-22 measures 17 inches (A) x 9 inches (B), while the GTF6-124 measures 68 inches (A) x 55 inches (B).
  • GTF9 Series (9 Elements): Available from 3 kW to 18 kW. The compact design allows higher power in smaller footprints compared to the 6-element series; for instance, a GTF9-32 shares the same dimensions as a GTF6-22 but delivers more power.
  • Wetted Materials: Fluoropolymer covered stainless steel elements.
<h4>Options and Accessories</h4>
  • Polypropylene guards are available to order separately (e.g., GTF6-2G, GTF9-3G). Guards add approximately ½" to overall heater dimensions.
  • Custom vertical heights and other configurations are offered upon request.
  • Alternate voltages and single-phase options are available.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the GTF6 and GTF9 series is the number of heating elements: 6 for the GTF6 line and 9 for the GTF9 line. This difference affects both power density per unit length and overall physical dimensions.

  • Element Count: The GTF6 models utilize a 6-element configuration, while GTF9 models use a 9-element arrangement.
  • Power Density: For equivalent dimension sets (e.g., A=17", B=9"), the GTF9 series offers higher power output than the GTF6 series. The GTF6-22 provides 2 kW, whereas the GTF9-32 provides 3 kW within similar physical envelopes.
  • Model Numbering: Model numbers encode element count (GTF6 vs. GTF9), power in kW, and voltage code (e.g., '2' for 240V, '4' for 480V).
