Supported Applications

The Omega SS-001 Series consists of wireless smart environmental sensors designed for monitoring temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and luminance. These devices pair with an Omega Link Gateway to transmit data wirelessly via sub-GHz frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology to the Omega Link Cloud or OEG interface. The series supports local data logging up to 10,649 data points per sensor.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SS-001 Series operates under specific ambient conditions depending on the power source. When battery-powered (2x AA alkaline), the operating temperature range is -15°C to 55°C, non-condensing. When powered via USB (Micro USB), the range extends to -20°C to 65°C, non-condensing. The device carries an IP40 enclosure rating.

Measurement performance specifications are defined as follows:

• Temperature: Range of -20°C to 70°C with ±0.3°C accuracy.
• Humidity (@ 25°C): Ranges from 0% to 80% (±2.5%) and 80% to 100% (±3.5%).
• Barometric Pressure: Range of 700 mbar to 1100 mbar (@ 25°C) with ±4 mbar accuracy; full range capability is 300 mbar to 1100 mbar with ±6 mbar accuracy.
• Luminance: Range of 0-43691 illuminance (Relative level only).

The wireless communication frequency is 915 MHz. The device achieves a range up to 3.2 km when powered by USB without obstruction.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable sensor suites and regional variants, with the following capabilities documented:

• Sensor Configurations: Models are available measuring Temperature and Humidity only (SS-001-1-NA) or a full suite including Barometric Pressure and Light (SS-001-3-NA).
• Power Options: Powered by 2x AA alkaline batteries (included, up to 1.5 years lifetime at 1 reading per hour frequency) or via Micro USB connection requiring 500mA @ 5V.
• Communication & Security: Features AES-256 encrypted wireless communication and one-button pairing. The device includes a sub-GHz antenna for robust transmission.
• Configuration Interface: A Micro USB port supports firmware updates, advanced configuration via SYNC software, and Range Boost Mode activation.

The series requires an Omega Link Gateway (e.g., GW-001 or GW-002 models) for wireless communication. The device includes LED status indicators to display power state, pairing mode, connection status, firmware updates, reset actions, and password errors.

The SS-001 Series is differentiated by the specific measurement parameters included in each model:

• SS-001-1-NA: Configured as a Temperature and Humidity Smart Sensor operating at 915 MHz.
• SS-001-3-NA: Configured as a comprehensive sensor measuring Temperature, Humidity, Barometric Pressure, and Light, also operating at 915 MHz.
