Supported Applications
The Omega Norgren Excelon® Compressed Air Lubricators are designed for in-line or modular installation to deliver lubrication via micro-fog and oil-fog applications. These units feature quick release bayonet bowls with highly visible prismatic liquid level indicator lenses on metal bowls, providing all-round (360°) visibility of the sight-feed dome for ease of drip rate setting.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series is rated for a maximum pressure of 300 psig (20 bar). The operating temperature range spans -34 to 80°C (-30 to 175°F). A critical operational note specifies that the air supply must be dry enough to avoid ice formation at temperatures below 2°C (35°F).
Typical flow performance is documented under specific conditions: with a 150 psig (10 bar) inlet pressure, 90 psig (6.3 bar) set pressure, and 15 psig (1 bar) droop from set, the series achieves flows up to 144 scfm (68dm³/s). Specific model flow ratings include:
- L73M-3AP-QDN: 60 scfm (28 dm³/s)
- L74M-4AP-QDN: 154 scfm (73 dm³/s)
Configuration Options
The series supports configurable port sizes, bowl types, and visibility options. The L73M models feature a ⅜" port size, while the L74M models utilize a ½" port size.
Housing and wetted materials include:
- Body: Aluminum
- Metal Bowl: Aluminum (available with plastic liquid level indicator)
- Liquid Level Indicator Lens: Transparent nylon, or optional Pyrex® for metal bowls
- Sight-Feed Dome: Transparent nylon
- Elastomers: Neoprene and nitrile
Standard configurations include PTF threads with uni-directional flow. Options available include manual drains, metal bowls with plastic liquid level indicators, and optional Pyrex sight-feed domes.
Key Product Differences
The series encompasses Series 73 and Series 74 models, distinguished by port size and physical dimensions. The L73M-3AP-QDN is a micro-fog lubricator with a ⅜" port, PTF threads, and a metal bowl with liquid level indicator; it weighs 0.50 kg (1.1 lb). The L74M-4AP-QDN is a micro-fog lubricator with a ½" port, PTF threads, and an optional transparent bowl configuration; it weighs 0.73 kg (1.61 lb).
Dimensional differences between Series 72, 73, and 74 are documented in inches and millimeters for parameters A through G. For example, the overall length (B) is 10.04" (255 mm) for Series 73 and 10.87" (276 mm) for Series 74.
