Supported Applications

The Omega LVCN414 Series is a non-contact ultrasonic level controller and transmitter designed for small tank applications. It serves as an alternative to float, conductance, and pressure sensors in scenarios involving dirty, sticking, or scaling media where contact-based measurement may fail. The series supports general-purpose fluid handling in skid, machine, tool, and process applications.

Documented application contexts include:

• Small tanks up to 49.2" (1.25m) tall
• Medium tanks up to 18.0' (5.5m) tall when utilizing the broader LVCN family capabilities referenced in supporting documentation
• Corrosive liquid media applications, subject to chemical compatibility verification of Polycarbonate and PVDF materials

The sensor is classified as general purpose and should not be used in classified hazardous environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Performance specifications for the LVCN414 Series are defined by measurement range, accuracy, resolution, and environmental limits. The series offers a measurement range of 49.2" (1.25m) with an accuracy of 0.125" (3mm) and a resolution of 0.019" (0.5mm). A dead band of 2" (5cm) is specified for the LVCN414 variants.

Operating conditions are constrained by temperature, pressure, and enclosure ratings:

• Ambient Temperature: -31° to 140°F (-35° to 60°C)
• Process Temperature: 20° to 140°F (-7° to 60°C) with automatic temperature compensation
• Pressure Rating: Maximum Working Pressure (MWP) of 30 PSI
• Enclosure Rating: NEMA 6P (IP68), Type 6P encapsulated for corrosion resistance and submersible operation

Voltage, Output, and Electrical Specifications

• LVCN414-I / LVCN414: Powered by 24 VDC (loop), outputting a 4-20 mA two-wire signal. Maximum loop resistance is 400 Ohms.
• LVCN414-R: Requires 12-24 VAC/VDC power supply and includes four SPST relays rated at 60 VA, 1A maximum.
• LVCN414-V: Powered by 12-28 VDC. Outputs include 0-5Vdc, 0-10Vdc, or 976 to 2000 Hz frequency signals (sink current nominal 15 mA).
• Hysteresis: Selectable for LVCN414 / LVCN210 / LVCN318 / LVCN414-R models.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable across output types, relay integration, and connection interfaces. Models are available with or without an integrated USB connector for configuration via PC Windows® software (downloadable from omega.com/ftp). Non-volatile memory retains settings.

• Output Configurations: 4-20 mA two-wire loop-powered, voltage/frequency outputs, and relay switching options.
• Relay Options: Models LVCN414 and LVCN414-R include four SPST relays with selectable fail-safe states (Power loss: Hold last; Power on: Open, close, or hold last).
• Analog Fail-Safe: Configurable to 4 mA, 20 mA, 21 mA, 22 mA, or hold last for current outputs. Voltage/frequency models support Full, empty, or hold last.

Mechanical construction features a Polycarbonate (PC) and PC/ABS FR housing with a Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) transducer material. The cable is 9-conductor shielded with a PVC jacket (series specific) or Polyurethane (family manual), measuring 48" (1.2 m) in length. Process connections are provided via 1" NPT threads, utilizing an FKM mounting gasket.

Model Number Guide and Ordering

The series includes the following primary variants:

• LVCN414 / LVCN414-B: Level transmitter with 4-20 mA output, four relays, and USB connector (or requires separate LVCN414-USB).
• LVCN414-I / LVCN414-I-B: Level transmitter with 4-20 mA output only.
• LVCN414-R / LVCN414-R-B: Level switch configuration with four relays and no analog current output.
• LVCN414-V / LVCN414-V-B: Voltage or frequency output transmitter (0-5V, 0-10V, 976-2000Hz).

Note: Models with the "-B" suffix require the separate LVCN414-USB accessory for configuration. An optional mounting reducer (LVM31) is available to adapt from 1" female NPT to 2" male NPT.

All variants share identical measurement ranges (up to 49.2" / 1.25m), accuracy, and physical dimensions for the LVCN414 family. The "-B" suffix denotes models that do not include an integrated USB connector on the device body; these require the external LVCN414-USB accessory for software configuration.
