Supported Applications
The ACI Nickel RTD Outdoor Air series is a single-point temperature sensor designed for use with electronic controllers in commercial heating and cooling building management systems. The sensors are intended for outdoor mounting to measure ambient air conditions.

Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within a measurement range of -40 to 70°C (-22 to 158°F). The operating humidity range is specified as 10 to 100% RH, Condensing. Storage temperature limits match the operating envelope at -40 to 70°C (-22 to 158°F).
Performance characteristics for the Nickel RTD element (PTC) are defined by specific accuracy points:
- -40°C (-40°F): +/- 1.52°C (+/- 2.73°F)
- 0°C (32°F): +/- 0.4°C (+/- 0.72°F)
- 21.1°C (70°F): +/- 0.17°C (+/- 0.34°F)
- 54.4°C (130°F): +/- 0.56°C (1.00°F)
The sensor exhibits a response time of 30 Seconds nominal for a 63% step change and maintains stability of +/- 0.05% after 1000 Hours @ 150°C (302°F). The temperature coefficient is Din 43760 | 6370 ppm/°C.
Configuration Options
The series offers three enclosure configurations to suit different installation environments, each with distinct materials and ratings:
- Euro Enclosure (-EH): PC/ASA Plastic w/ UV Protectant; UL94-V0. Rated for -40 to 88°C (-40 to 190°F).
- NEMA 4X Enclosure (-4X): Polystyrene Plastic, UL94-V2. Rated NEMA 4X (IP 66) and operates from -40 to 70°C (-40 to 158°F). Features a twist-off cover with water-tight cord grip.
- Bell Box Enclosure (-BB): Aluminum, rated NEMA 3R. Operates from -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F).
Sensor construction includes two 14" (35.6cm) leads with 22 AWG (0.65mm) silver-plated copper conductors insulated with Etched Teflon colored wires rated MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E). The sensing element utilizes a double encapsulation process to eliminate moisture effects and increase thermal response time using thermally conductive epoxy.

- A/1K-NI-O-EH: 1K Nickel, Outside Air Sensor, Euro Enclosure (0.46 lbs / 0.21kg).
- A/1K-NI-O-BB: 1K Nickel, Outside Air Sensor, Cast Aluminum Enclosure (0.76 lbs / 0.35kg).
- A/1K-NI-O-4X: 1K Nickel, Outside Air Sensor, NEMA 4X Enclosure (0.38 lbs / 0.209kg).
Optional configurations include a NIST Certificate (3 Points). For applications requiring mounting in direct sunlight, the series documentation references a separate Sun Shield data sheet for Temperature or Temperature/Humidity Combination sensors.
