Supported Applications

The ACI Nickel Duct No Box series is a single-point temperature sensor designed for use with electronic controllers in commercial heating and cooling building management systems. The duct style sensor is intended for smaller duct applications, including Roof Top Units and Air Handlers. Documented monitoring points include Supply, Discharge, Return, and Mixed Air Temperatures.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series utilizes a Nickel RTD (PTC) element with an output of 1000 Ohms nominal at 21.1°C (70°F). The operating temperature range is -40 to 115°C (-40 to 239°F), and the storage temperature range is -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Sensors operate within a humidity range of 10 to 95% RH, non-condensing. The response time (63% step change) is 8 seconds nominal.

Accuracy specifications for the Nickel sensor are defined at specific temperatures:

• -40°C (-40°F): +/- 1.52°C (+/- 2.73°F)
• 0°C (32°F): +/- 0.4°C (+/- 0.72°F)
• 21.1°C (70°F): +/- 0.17°C (+/- 0.34°F)
• 54.4°C (130°F): +/- 0.56°C (1.00°F)
• 121°C (250°F): +/- 1.25°C (+/- 2.25°F)

The sensor conforms to Din Standard 43760 with a temperature coefficient of 6370 ppm/°C for the range 0-100°C.

Configuration Options

This series is configured as a "Without Box" (-DO) model, featuring a flange-mounted design. The probe consists of a 0.250" (6.35 mm) diameter sheath made from 304 Stainless Steel. Available insertion lengths include 4", 6", 8", 12", and 18".

Electrical connections utilize two non-polarity sensitive wires with etched Teflon (PTFE) colored leads rated MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E). The conductor material is silver-plated copper, sized at 22 AWG (0.65 mm).

Lead wire options include:

• Standard etched PTFE colored leads: 14" for 4", 6", and 8" probes; 24" for 12" and 18" probes.
• Cable extensions available in plenum-rated configurations (CL2P): 6 ft, 10 ft, or 20 ft lengths with 2 conductors.

Agency approvals include CE, RoHS2, and WEEE. A NIST Certificate (3 Points) is an optional accessory for calibration verification.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes itself from other ACI Duct Series configurations by the absence of a protective enclosure (-DO). While other models in the broader family offer Plastic Box, Galvanized Enclosure, Bell Box, or NEMA 4X housings, this specific Nickel Duct No Box line provides only the sensor probe and flange. The foam pad required for sealing is included but not pre-installed on the -DO configuration; it must be installed prior to mounting.

Model numbers follow the format A/1K-NI-DO-[Length]-[Lead Option], where 1K-NI denotes the Nickel sensor type and DO indicates the no-box configuration. Variants differ primarily by probe insertion length (4" through 18") and lead wire extension options.
