Supported Applications

The Omega LCMWD series consists of metric, high accuracy load washers designed to measure bolt compressional forces. These units function as compression load cells intended for use with bolts in structural and mechanical assemblies.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LCMWD series operates within an ambient temperature range of 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F) and a process temperature range of -40 to 127°C (-40 to 260°F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.5% BFSL for capacities ≤10K lb/50 kN and ±0.75% BFSL for >10K lb/50 kN, with performance defined by combined linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability.

  • Excitation voltage: 10 Vdc (15V maximum)
  • Output signal: <500 lb/2kN provides 1 mV/V nominal; ≥500 lb/2kN provides 2 mV/V nominal
  • Load resistance: <50K lb/200 kN is 350 Ω min; ≥50K lb/200 kN is 700 Ω

Configuration Options

The series supports a measurement range from 0-1000 to 0-200 kN (equivalent to 0-200 lb to 0-200,000 lb). Each unit is constructed of stainless steel and includes spherical washers and load buttons. The standard electrical connection features a 1.5 m (5') insulated shielded cable with the following wiring code: RED (+EXC), BLACK (-EXC), GREEN (+OUT), WHITE (-OUT).

Available Capacities

Metric models are available in capacities of 1000 N, 2000 N, 5000 N, 10,000 N, 20,000 N, 50,000 N, 100,000 N, and 200,000 N. Dimensional envelopes vary by capacity; for example, the ≤10K lb (50 kN) size has an ID of 10.2 mm (0.40 inch), OD of 25 mm (1.0 inch), and height of 9.0 mm (0.35 inch).

Key Product Differences

The LCMWD series represents the metric configuration of the load washer family, distinct from standard (inch) models. Metric units come complete with 5-point NIST-traceable calibration and 59 kΩ shunt data, whereas standard models include 4-point NIST-traceable calibration. Model numbers follow the format LCMWD-<CAPACITY>KN (e.g., LCMWD-100KN). Compatible meters for these units include DPiS, DP41-S, and DP25B-S.
