Supported Applications
The Omega LDI-119 Series consists of LVIT (Linear Variable Inductive Transducer) linear position sensors designed for factory automation and industrial testing. These contactless devices are documented for use in motor sport vehicles, automotive testing, solar cell positioners, wind turbine prop pitch and brakes, packing equipment, laboratories, and OEM applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LDI-119 series operates within an ambient temperature range of -20 to 85°C (-4 to 185°F) with a humidity rating of 95% RH, non-condensing. The sensors feature an IEC IP67 enclosure rating and are constructed with aluminum housings. Performance specifications include a resolution of 0.025% of FS, accuracy typical at ±0.15% of Full Scale Output (FSO) with a maximum of ±0.25%, and a nominal response time of 300 Hz.
Mechanical robustness is defined by shock ratings of 1000 g for 11 ms and vibration resistance specified as 5 to 20 Hz at 0.5" p-p, or 20 to 2000 Hz at 4.2 g p-p.
Measurement Ranges
The series offers six full-scale linear ranges from 25 mm (1") to 200 mm (8"). Overall length 'A' varies by range: 89 mm (3.5") for the 25 mm range, increasing incrementally to 267 mm (10.5") for the 200 mm range. The housing diameter is constant at 19 mm (0.75").
Configuration Options
The LDI-119 series supports field programmability calibration, allowing adjustment of output ranges to cover 0-20% around zero or 80-100% around full range. The default setting is the standard linear scale.
Electrical Specifications
- Power Supply: 12 to 30V DC for 0-10 V output; 18 to 30V DC minimum required for 4-20 mA current output.
- Output Signals: Choice of 0 to 10 V (max 35 mA) or 4 to 20 mA (3-wire sourcing, max 60 mA).
- Note on Current Output: The 4-20 mA DC output is 3-wire sourcing and must not be connected to a 2-wire loop-powered system.
Mechanical & Connection Options
- Housing Material: Aluminum.
- Cable Exit: Radial cable exit with swivel rod eye ends for installation flexibility.
- Electrical Connections: Available as a 4-conductor cable (1 m / 3.3' long) or via PTO2-10 6-pin connector configurations in related family documentation, though the primary series data sheet specifies radial cable with swivel rod eye ends.
- Cable Color Coding: Red (+ Power Input), Black (Ground), Green (Analog Output), White (Field Programmability).
Key Product Differences
The LDI-119 series is distinguished by its compact 19 mm housing diameter and stroke-to-length ratio. Model numbers follow the format LDI-119-[RANGE]-[OUTPUT]-A010A, where range codes correspond to linear travel (e.g., 025 for 25 mm, 200 for 200 mm) and output suffixes denote signal type. The series includes a larger body version, the LDI-127, intended for heavier duty applications requiring different mechanical specifications.
Available variants cover all six linear ranges (25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 mm) paired with either 0 to 10 Vdc or 4 to 20 mA outputs. Specific model examples include LDI-119-150-A010A for a 150 mm range with voltage output.
