Supported Applications
The Omega K-Series SGK Dual Parallel Grid strain gauges are transducer-quality sensors designed for bending beam applications. Each carrier features two separate parallel linear strain gages intended for use in designs where access to both sides of a beam is available.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series provides dual parallel grid configurations with nominal resistances of 350 Ω and 1,000 Ω. Temperature characteristics are matched specifically to Steel (ST) or Aluminum (AL). Maximum permitted bridge energizing voltage varies by model pattern, ranging from 7.5 Vrms for the D2A/D3B patterns up to 32 Vrms for specific D6A configurations.
Key dimensional parameters include active gage length and width, as well as matrix dimensions:
- D2A Pattern (6 mm): Grid A is 2.0 mm (0.079 in); Grid B is 2.5 mm (0.098 in).
- D3A/D3B Patterns (7–7.2 mm): Grid dimensions vary between 1.6 mm and 3.2 mm depending on the specific model.
- D6A Pattern (10.6 mm): Grid A is 6.3 mm (0.248 in); Grid B is 2.5 mm (0.098 in).
Configuration Options
The SGK series offers configurable options for gage pattern, resistance value, temperature compensation material, and termination type.
- Gage Patterns: Available as D2A (6 mm), D3A/D3B (7–7.2 mm), and D6A (10.6 mm).
- Nominal Resistance: 350 Ω or 1,000 Ω.
- Temperature Compensation: Matched to Steel (ST) or Aluminum (AL).
- Termination: Copper-plated solder pads for electrical connection.
Packages are supplied in quantities of 5. Custom gages with fast delivery are available upon consultation.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series differ by their specific model number construction, which defines the physical dimensions and material compatibility:
- D3A vs. D3B: While both are approximately 7 mm in length, they feature different grid width configurations (Grid B is 1.6 mm for D3A versus 2.5 mm for D3B).
- Resistance Options: The D6A pattern supports both 350 Ω and 1,000 Ω resistance values.
- Material Matching: Models ending in PC11-E are compensated for Steel (ST), while those ending in PC23-E are compensated for Aluminum (AL).
