Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series ILA consists of in-line infrared sensors designed for non-contact temperature measurement. These devices are suitable for monitoring a wide range of materials, including food, paper, textiles, plastics, leather, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, rubber, coal, and asphalt.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series ILA measures temperatures from 32 to 932°F (0 to 500°C) with an accuracy of 1% of reading or 1°C whichever is greater. Repeatability is specified as 0.5% of reading or 0.5°C whichever is greater, and the response time is 240 ms. The sensor features a fixed emissivity of 0.95 and a distance-to-target size ratio of 15:1 with an optical spectral response of 8 to 14 microns.

Ambient operating temperature ranges from 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C). The sensor requires a power supply of 24 VDC. To minimize electromagnetic interference, the sensor should be mounted away from motors and generators, and it must not be operated near large electromagnetic fields such as arc welders or induction heaters.

Key Performance Specifications

  • Temperature Range: 32 to 932°F (0 to 500°C)
  • Accuracy: 1% of reading or 1°C whichever is greater
  • Emissivity: 0.95 (Fixed)
  • Spectral Response: 8 to 14 microns
  • Ambient Operating Temperature: 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C)
  • Power Requirement: 24 VDC

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable output signals compatible with indicators, controllers, recorders, and data loggers without special interfacing. The sensor housing is constructed of stainless steel (SS) with an overall length of 4-1/16 in [103] mm and a diameter of 0.2332 in [18] mm.

Output Signals

  • J Type Thermocouple: Available on model ILA10
  • 4 to 20 mA: Available on model ILA20
  • 0 to 50 mVDC (or VDC): Supported output option

Mechanical and Electrical Details

  • Housing Material: Stainless steel
  • Cable Length: 3.3 ft (1 m)
  • Connector Type: M16 ULTRA FINE 1.0MM PITCH (or 1.00 MM PITCH)
  • Weight: 3.35 oz (95 g)

Key Product Differences

The Series ILA is available in specific model variants distinguished by their output signal type.

  • ILA10: Provides a J Thermocouple output.
  • ILA20: Provides a 4-20 mA output.

The series supports fixed and adjustable mounting bracket accessories, or brackets/cut-outs of own design. The sensor carries CE approval. Users must ensure the spot size does not exceed the target area; smoke fumes or dust can contaminate the lens and cause measurement errors. If exposed to significant ambient temperature changes, allow 20 minutes for stabilization before recording measurements.
