Supported Applications

The Omega OSHFV-Series (Model OS-HFV50) is a non-contact infrared temperature sensor designed for high field of view and high-temperature measurement. The series calculates surface temperature based on emitted infrared energy, converting it into an analog or digital signal while providing local visualization via a 6-digit backlight LCD display.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The OSHFV-Series operates across multiple temperature ranges depending on the selected sensor variant. The LT and LR models cover 0°C ~ 900°C (32°F to 1652°F) and 0°C ~ 1300°C (32°F to 2372°F), respectively, with a spectral response of 8 ~ 14μm. High-temperature variants H1, H2, and H3 cover ranges from 600°C ~ 1600°C (1112°F to 2912°F), 300°C ~ 1300°C (572°F to 2372°F), and 100°C ~ 600°C (212°F to 1112°F). Accuracy for LT/LR models is specified as ±1% of reading or ±1.5°C, whichever is greater; H1/H2/H3 accuracy is ±(0.5% of reading + 2°C).

Response time varies by sensor type: LT/LR models achieve a response time of 150 ms (95%), while H1, H2, and H3 variants respond in 5 ms (95%). The series features an adjustable emissivity setting from 0.100 ~ 1.000 in 0.001 increments.

The sensor housing is rated IP 64, with an ambient operating temperature of 0°C to 70°C. Storage and cable temperatures are supported from -20°C to 85°C (storage) and -20°C to 80°C (cable). Relative humidity tolerance is 10% ~ 95%, non-condensing.

Voltage, Output, and Electrical Specifications

Configuration Options

The OSHFV-Series is configurable across several dimensions to meet specific optical and thermal requirements. The series supports multiple temperature ranges (LT, LR, H1, H2, H3) with corresponding spectral responses ranging from 8 ~ 14μm for lower-temperature models down to 1 μm, 1.6 μm, and 2.3 μm for high-temperature variants.

Optical Resolution (Field of View)

Different optics codes provide varying distance-to-spot ratios:

  • LT Models: 60:1 (SF) or 75:1 (CF).
  • LR Model: 120:1.
  • H1 and H2 Models: 300:1.
  • H3 Model: 140:1 (SF, CF2) or 120:1 (FF).

Mechanical Dimensions

The sensor features a rugged aluminum alloy housing with an overall length of 110 mm, diameter of Φ59.5 mm, and mounting thread M48x1.5. Weight is approximately 500g (without cable).

Signal Processing Options

The series supports signal processing modes including peak hold, valley hold, and average.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the OSHFV-Series are distinguished primarily by their temperature range codes (LT, LR, H1, H2, H3) and optical resolution. The LT/LR variants utilize a 8 ~ 14μm spectral response with slower response times (150 ms) compared to the high-temperature H-series models which operate at shorter wavelengths (e.g., 1 μm for H1) and faster response times (5 ms). Accuracy specifications also differ, with LT/LR offering a percentage-or-fixed-value tolerance structure versus the linear-plus-offset accuracy of the H-series.
