Supported Applications
The Omega PHE735710-555110 series comprises general purpose pH and ORP electrodes designed for liquid analysis in potable water supplies, cooling towers, fresh and salt water aquariums, and secondary treated waste water. The product overview identifies the series as suitable for clean water applications, with specific models engineered to resist electrode poisoning solutions.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PHE-7357-10-(*) and PHE-5551-10-(*) pH sensors operate within a measurement range of 0 to 14 pH. Standard process temperature ratings cover 0 to 80°C (32 to 176°F), while high-temperature versions are rated for service up to 110°C (32 to 230°F). The series achieves an accuracy of ±0.1% over full range and provides a response time where the sensor reaches 95% of reading in 10 seconds.
Pressure ratings extend from 0 to 100 psig. Wetted materials include PPS, PTFE, and 316 SS. The electrodes feature a porous PTFE liquid junction and a large reference electrolyte reservoir designed for long life. Protective lobes are included on the sensor body to prevent breakage.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options across pH sensing, ORP measurement, temperature compensation, and specialized chemical resistance:
- Sensor Types: General purpose pH sensors (PHE-7357-10-(*)), general purpose pH with solution ground (PHE-5551-10-*), and ORP probes for clean water (ORE-7357-10, ORE-5551-10).
- Process Connection: ½ MNPT.
- Housing Materials: PPS housing is standard on the PHE-5551-10 series; this double-junction construction includes a solution ground and offers high resistance to electrode poisoning solutions.
- Cable Lengths: Standard configuration comes complete with 3 m (10') cable. Non-standard cable lengths are available for additional cost.
- ATC Options: The PHE-5551-10-(*) model accepts ATC sensor options: -PT100 (100 Ω Pt RTD) or -PT1K (1000 Ω Pt RTD).
- Suffix Codes: Available for additional cost are the -HF suffix for HF/Fluoride resistance and the -HT suffix indicating a high-temperature reference cell, which is standard on PHE/ORE-5551 models.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between general purpose pH sensors (PHE-7357-10) and those with solution ground construction in a robust PPS housing (PHE-5551). The ORE models provide ORP measurement capabilities for clean water. High temperature service is supported by the -HT option or standard on 5551 series, recommended when temperatures exceed 80°C (176°F).
Storage instructions specify that electrodes must be kept moist in a potassium chloride solution provided in a soaker bottle or rubber boot; pH buffer 4.0 or 7.0 may be used if the original solution is lost. Distilled or deionized water should not be used for storage as it reduces electrode lifespan.
