Supported Applications
The OMEGA® FSB Series Laboratory Calibration Baths are cylindrical, fluidized heating units designed for the precision calibration of temperature measurement devices in laboratory or shop applications. The series utilizes a fluidized sand medium to achieve uniform temperature control.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FSB series operates using clean, dry air at 3 to 6 psi as the carrier gas for fluidization; gases other than air (e.g., argon or nitrogen) may be used if an inert atmosphere is required. The measurement and process temperature ranges are:
- 122° to 662°F (50° to 350°C)
- 122° to 1112°F (50° to 600°C)
The fluidizing media is at elevated temperatures, requiring proper warning signage to prevent injury. Each unit includes a fail-safe pressure switch that turns off all heaters if fluidization is lost, protecting against burnout.
Configuration Options
The series comprises four models (FSB-1, FSB-2, FSB-3, FSB-4) that are essentially identical except for differences in size and temperature range. Construction features a stainless steel inner container within a painted steel outer case with 1.0 in (25 mm) thick fiberglass insulation.

The units are equipped with Inconel sheathed immersion heaters and connect via a three-wire cable and plug to a properly fused electrical outlet.
