Supported Applications

The ACI Series AUD is a floating point to analog output interface designed for control applications. It converts floating point signals into linear analog outputs, providing stable steady-state voltage or current levels that ramp up or down based on input activation. Documented application areas include variable speed drive control, motor speed control, contact integration, and actuator control.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series AUD operates within an ambient temperature range of 35 to 120°F (1.7 to 48.9°C) with a storage temperature capability from -20 to 150°F (-28.9 to 65.5°C). Humidity tolerance is rated at 10 to 95% non-condensing. The unit requires a power supply of 24 VDC (range: 24 VDC to 35 VDC) or 24 VAC (range: 21.6 VAC to 28 VAC, 50/60 Hz), drawing a maximum supply current of 208 mA.

Output signal accuracy is specified as Absolute +/- 2% of span for adjustable ranges and 5% for preset configurations when powered by 24 VAC at 60 Hz. For 24 VAC at 50 Hz, accuracy is Absolute +/- 3% of span for adjustable ranges and 5% for preset. The output signal resolution across all ranges is 256 steps.

Load requirements vary by output type: voltage outputs require a minimum load resistance of 3300Ω at 20 VDC ± 10%, or 400 ohms minimum at 10 VDC ± 10%. Current outputs support a maximum load of 0 to 750Ω; if the load is lowered to 700Ω, the DC supply can be reduced to 24 VDC -10% while maintaining stated accuracy.

Input and Output Specifications

  • Inputs: Supports relay contact closure, transistor, or triac (24 VAC, 50/60 Hz). Trigger levels are Normal Mode: 5 to 26.4 VDC, 24 to 26.4 VAC; Triac Mode: 24 to 26.4 VAC.
  • Fixed Voltage Outputs: 0 to 1 VDC, 0 to 4 VDC, 0 to 10 VDC, 0 to 13 VDC, 1 to 2 VDC, 1 to 5 VDC, 1 to 11 VDC, 1 to 14 VDC.

Rates of Change by Version

The series offers multiple firmware versions with distinct rates of change for output ramping, defined in seconds based on input combinations (Program #):

  • Version 1 (0008Y0A.HEX): 5 sec., 15 sec., 30 sec., 90 sec.
  • Version 2 (0244Y0A.HEX) & Version 3 (0256Y0A.HEX): 45 sec., 60 sec., 120 sec., 240 sec. Note: Version 3 resets to maximum on startup or if both inputs pulse for 3.5 seconds.
  • Version 4 (0537Y0A.HEX): 5 sec., N/A, N/A, 360 sec.
  • Version 5 (S-AUD V5): 60 sec., 75 sec., 120 sec., 150 sec.
  • AUD2: Resets to midpoint output signal on start-up; rates of change are 5, 15, 30, 90s.

Key Product Differences

The Series AUD is differentiated by firmware version, which dictates the rates of change for output ramping and specific reset behaviors on power-up or input conditions:

  • AUD (Version 1): Standard configuration with rates of 5, 15, 30, 90s.
  • AUD Version #2 & #3: Slower ramping speeds (45 to 240s). Version #3 includes a specific reset behavior: it resets to maximum output on startup or if both inputs pulse for 3.5 seconds.
  • AUD Version #4: Features rates of 5 and 360s, with N/A values for intermediate input combinations.
  • AUD Version #5: Offers distinct ramping speeds of 60, 75, 120, 150s.
  • AUD2: Distinct from standard versions by resetting to the midpoint output signal on start-up while maintaining rates of 5, 15, 30, 90s.
