Supported Applications

The Omega RTD-860 Series consists of precision flanged mounted Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) probes designed for laboratory applications. These sensors measure temperature in gas and air media, utilizing a high-accuracy 100 Ω Class “A” DIN platinum element standard.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is rated for a maximum process temperature of 230°C (450°F). The sensing element provides an accuracy class of IEC Class A, with specified performance values including ±0.15°C @ 0°C. Construction features a stainless steel flange and sheath to facilitate installation.

Configuration Options

The RTD-860 Series is configured for specific termination needs via connector selection. The probes utilize 3-Wire construction compatible with most instruments. Key configurable attributes include:

  • Sensing Element: 100 Ω Class “A” DIN platinum.
  • Cable and Insulation: 1 m (40") long PFA insulated cable; jacketed in PFA.
  • Process Connection: Stainless steel tube and flange assembly with a probe diameter of 3 mm (¼").
  • Insertion Length: 38 mm (1½").
  • Wetted Materials: Includes stainless steel, nickel-plated copper, PFA insulation, and PFA jacketed cable.
  • Connector Options: Standard miniature MTP connector; OTP connector available by adding “-OTP” to the model number; audio connector (TA3F) available by adding “-TA3F”. Other connectors are also available upon request.

The series supports integration with external instrumentation, including SPRTX 4 to 20 mA transmitters, CNI3253 controllers, HE-XT105 PLC/HMI all-in-one systems, and OM-SQ2010 data loggers. Mating connectors (e.g., MTP-U-F, OTP-U-F) and cable clamps are sold separately.

Key Product Differences

The series identity is defined by the flanged mounting style and lead wire configuration. Model variations distinguish connector types:

  • RTD-860: Supplied with a standard male MTP-style miniature connector.
  • RTD-860-OTP: Features an OTP connector; mating connector model is OTP-U-F and cable clamp PCLM are required accessories sold separately.
  • RTD-860-TA3F: Configured with an audio-style TA3F connector (Class “A” accuracy).

All models maintain the same 100 Ω Class “A” DIN sensing element and maximum temperature rating of 230°C (450°F). Images provided in documentation are for reference only.
