Supported Applications

The Omega CFTF series consists of Extruder RTD Probes with Compression Fittings, designed for plastic process machinery. These probes feature a 100 Ω Class 'B' thin-film DIN platinum element housed in a 4.75 mm (⅜") diameter 304 stainless steel sheath.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CFTF series operates with a continuous temperature range of -260°C to 260°C (500°F). An optional high-temperature cable configuration extends the operating capability to -260°C to 500°C (932°F) when specified. The probes utilize a standard process connection via an ⅛ NPT Brass Compression Fitting.

Performance specifications include IEC Class B accuracy, with documented values of ±0.30°C @ 0°C. Electrical construction is 3-Wire, color-coded Red/Red/White per IE/ASTM-E-1137 standards. Wetted materials consist of a 304 Stainless Steel Sheath and Nickel-plated copper conductor.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and termination options to accommodate specific installation requirements:

  • Bend Configuration: Available in Straight (code 000) or 90° Bend (code 090).
  • "A" Length Options: Standard lengths include 50 mm (2 inches) and 100 mm (4 inches). Other "A" lengths are available for an additional cost per inch over 6".
  • Cable Lengths: The standard flex cable length is 1.5 m (60"). Custom armored cable lengths can be ordered by changing the '60' in the model number to the desired length, with costs applied for feet over 5' (60').
  • Termination Options: Probes are available with Spade Lugs or OTP Connectors.
  • High-Temperature Option: Adding the 'CC' suffix specifies high-temperature fiberglass cable construction rated to 500°C.

The model number guide follows the format: CFTF - <Bend Information> - RTD - <'A' Length> - <Cable Length> - <Termination Option> - <Options>. Adaptors for insertion and pipe clamp use, including BTC adaptors, are available online.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the CFTF series differ primarily by physical geometry and termination type. The "Bend Information" segment of the model number distinguishes between straight probes (000) and those with a 90° bend (090). The "A" dimension defines the insertion length, commonly offered as 2 inches or 4 inches in standard configurations.

Termination variations are indicated by the final digit before optional suffixes: '1' denotes Spade Lugs and '2' indicates an OTP Connector. Variants with the '-CC' suffix incorporate high-temperature fiberglass cable construction, differentiating them from models with standard cabling limited to 260°C (500°F) continuous operation.
