Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series 1500 is a microprocessor-based temperature controller and alarm system housed in an economical 1/16 DIN case. Designed for reliable, accurate control or alarm functions, the series features a waterproof, corrosion-resistant front panel that allows all control functions to be programmed directly from the instrument face.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series 1500 operates within an ambient temperature range of 14 to 131°F (-10 to 55°C) and supports storage temperatures from -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C). The controller delivers a measurement accuracy of ±0.25% of span ±1 least significant digit.
Power requirements are flexible, accepting 100 to 240 VAC at 50 – 400 Hz (single phase) or 132 to 240 VDC (nom.) +10% – 20%, with a maximum power consumption of 5 VA. The unit weighs 8 oz (227 g).
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple sensor inputs and output configurations, allowing for field selection to match specific process needs.
- Sensor Inputs: Field selectable J, K, T, E, or N type thermocouples (J type stocked); RTD 100Ω DIN (.00385 ohms/ohm/°C).
- Control Outputs: SSR (Solid State Relay) rated at 3.5A @ 240 VAC max. @ 77°F (25°C) typical; or Relay (SPST) rated at 3A resistive, 1.5A inductive @ 250 VAC.
- Alarm Outputs: Optional relay output (SPST), field configurable for direct acting (cooling) or reverse acting (heating). Rated at 3A res., 1.5A ind. @ 250 VAC.
- Pilot Duty Ratings: Relay outputs support Pilot Duty = 250 VA, 2A @ 125 VAC or 1A @ 250 VAC.
All models are programmable for on-off, P, PI, manual PID, or automatic Self-Tune® PID control. The optional alarm is easily adjusted for either automatic or manual reset to provide independent high or low system protection. Four security levels are password protected. Relay and SSR outputs are isolated.
Key Product Differences
The Series 1500 offers distinct model configurations based on input type, output method, and alarm availability:
- Thermocouple Models (SSR Output): Model codes ending in -11-1 provide SSR control without an optional alarm; models with the suffix indicating "Yes" include the alarm option.
- Thermocouple Models (Relay Output): Configurations available for Relay output, both with and without the optional alarm relay.
- RTD Models: Dedicated configurations accept RTD 100Ω DIN inputs with Relay outputs, offered in versions with or without the optional alarm function.
The display features a 4 digit, 7 segment 0.3” high LED showing Set Point and Alarm status indicators, along with °F or °C selection LEDs. Sensor break protection de-energizes the control output. For solenoid or contactor loads, an optional R/C Snubber (Part Number A-600) is recommended.
Installation requires a panel cutout of 1.772” X 1.772” [45 mm X 45 mm] with 0.5” [13 mm] clearance at the rear of the instrument.
