Supported Applications

The Omega PX160 series comprises compact, ultra-low pressure transducers designed for the measurement of clean gases. These solid-state piezoresistive devices are signal-conditioned sensors intended for applications requiring exact pressure measurement where repeatability, low hysteresis, and long-term stability are critical parameters.

Documented configurations support Vacuum, Differential, Gage, and Bi-Directional Differential measurements across ranges from ±2.5 inH₂O to 0–27.68 inH₂O (±0.02 to 0–6.9 kPa). The series is specifically noted for use with dry gases only on the P1 port.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PX160 transducers operate within an ambient temperature range of -40 to +85°C (-40 to +185°F), with a compensated temperature range typically spanning -18 to +63°C (0 to +145°F). Specific models in the PX163 and PX164 series list a narrower compensated range of 5 to 45°C (41 to 113°F).

Performance specifications include:

• Linearity: ±1.0% FS BFSL at specified voltage; the PX163-120BD5V model lists a maximum of ±1.5%.
• Hysteresis and Repeatability: ±0.25% FS (typical).
• Response Time: 1 ms.
• Operable Overpressure: 5 psi for most ranges; the -7.87 to 47.24 inH₂O range lists a maximum overpressure of 350 cm H2O (approx. 10 psi per table row).

The devices feature an output span of 1 to 6 Vdc, with specific full-scale outputs varying by model configuration (e.g., 4.85 to 5.15 V or 3.45 to 3.55 V). Excitation is provided at 8 Vdc regulated (operating range 6 to 12 Vdc), while the PX163-120D5V variant utilizes 10 Vdc.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable measurement types and ranges tailored for low-pressure gas applications. Key selection parameters include:

• Housing Material: High-Impact Plastic Case (Thermoplastic).
• Process Connections: P1 port is restricted to dry gases only; P2 port compatibility depends on the type, limited for Gage applications to media that will not attack polyester, silicon, borosilicate glass, or epoxy.
• Electrical Connection: Mating connector CX136-3 (sold separately) is specified for board-mounted integration. Some configurations reference 0.010" x 0.020" nominal printed circuit board terminals.
• Power Options: Compatible with PST-8 (8V power supply) and PST-10 (10V power supply).

The series supports a variety of measuring ranges, including 0–27.68 inH₂O, ±5 inH₂O, ±2.5 inH₂O, 0–5 inH₂O, 0–10 inH₂O, and -7.87 to 47.24 inH₂O.

Key Product Differences

The PX160 series is differentiated by model number prefixes indicating measurement type: PX161 for Vacuum, PX162 for Differential/Gage, and PX163/PX164 for specific differential ranges. The PX163-120BD5V variant supports a unique range of -7.87 to 47.24 inH₂O (-20 to 120 cm H2O) with distinct linearity and temperature error specifications compared to standard models.

Output voltage levels vary by configuration, with some units providing a zero balance of 1 Vdc ±0.05 and others (PX163 Series) at 3.5 Vdc ±0.05. The series includes specific compatibility notes for meters such as the DP41-E and DP25B-E.
