Supported Applications
The Omega TXCO-50 is a loop-powered carbon monoxide transmitter designed for measuring CO concentrations from 0 to 50 ppm. The series supports monitoring in air, oxygen, and nitrogen generators; gas manufacturing filling stations; heat treating processes; bright annealing applications; and medical breathing devices.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The transmitter operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F). Accuracy is specified as ±2% FSD at constant temperature, or ±5% FSD when the temperature varies between 0 and 50°C. The device features a response time of less than 30 seconds for 90% Full Scale Deflection (FSD) at 20°C (68°F). It is housed in a NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure constructed from painted aluminum.
Power requirements are met via loop power with a supply of 24 Vdc. The load resistance must be Type 470 Ω at 18 Vdc maximum, or up to 700 Ω. Operating pressure is rated for 0.1 to 1 bar. A recommended flow rate of 0.5–3 scfh applies during operation.
Configuration Options
The TXCO-50 series offers the following configurable and documented capabilities:
- Measurement Range: 0 to 50 ppm CO concentration (special ranges available upon consultation).
- Output Signal: 4 to 20 mA/DC loop power.
- Sensor Technology: Electrochemical cell with temperature compensation and reverse voltage protection.
- Housing & Enclosure: Painted aluminum housing rated NEMA 4 (IP65).
- Process Connection: ¼" tubing connections; use at least 1–2 ft of tubing on the output to prevent backdraft.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Shipped fully calibrated with no calibration required for two years. Sensor life expectancy is typically up to 5000 ppm hours, or approximately 2 years with a drift rate of < 5%/yr. Calibration can be performed using NIST traceable CO gas.
- Approvals: CE marked; includes a 1 YEAR WARRANTY.
Accessories
- DP32PT-330: ½ DIN meter with 2 alarm relays.
Key Product Differences
The TXCO-50 is a single-model series identified as the "Loop powered carbon monoxide transmitter, fully calibrated." The device dimensions are 80 L x 75 W x 55 mm D (3.15 x 2.95 x 2.16") and it weighs 1.0 kg (2.2 lb). Electrical connections utilize a Red wire for +24 VDC and a Black wire for RTN (Return).
Special ranges are available but require consultation with Omega Engineering, Inc. The instrument is not designed for human applications; safe operation requires that the protective grounding line remains connected and power be disconnected before servicing.
