Supported Applications

The Omega E34 Series comprises rugged pushbuttons, contact blocks, and legend plates designed for industrial control panels. The series features die-cast construction with a two-layer 100% solid thermosetting cathodic epoxy coating that provides corrosion resistance and passes a 600-hour salt spray test. These components are FDA approved for sanitary chemical resistance requirements.

The system supports custom assembly configurations using operators, legend plates (e.g., E34SP34 with 'STOP' text), and stackable contact blocks to meet specific control interface needs. Applications requiring UV exposure should utilize NEMA 4X 10250T operators, as the standard cathodic coating is not recommended for such environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The E34 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -17 to 66°C (1 to 150°F) and a storage temperature range of -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F). The series is rated for maximum humidity up to 95% RH @ 60°C at an altitude of 6,562' (2,000 m).

Mechanical performance ratings vary by device type:

• All Pushbuttons: 10 x 106 operations; frequency up to 6000 operations/hr.
• Contact Blocks and PresTest Units: 10 x 106 operations.
• Lever and Key Selector Switches: 0.25 x 106 operations; frequency up to 3000 operations/hr.
• Auto-Latch Devices: 1200 operations/hr life.
• Twist to Release Pushbuttons: 0.3 x 106 operations.

The series withstands shock resistance of 210 mS >= 5g. Electrical insulation is rated Ui = 660 VAC or DC with a thermal current Ith = 10A. Short circuit coordination to IEC/EN 60947-5-1 includes a Rated Conditional Short Circuit Current of 1 kA.

Configuration Options

The E34 Series offers extensive configurability through modular components, including various operator types, illuminated pushbuttons with different voltage/resistor types, and stackable contact blocks (up to 12 circuits per operator).

Operators and Switches

• Pushbutton Operators: Includes red extended (E34EB2), red jumbo mushroom head (E34JB2), E-STOP mushroom head (E34JB2N8), red mushroom head (E34LB2), black flush (E34PB1), and green flush (E34PB3).
• Selector Switches: Available as 2 position maintained keyed (E34KFB1) or knob/lever variants, and 3 position maintained keyed (E34KGB4) or knob/lever variants.

Illumination and Lenses

• Light Units: Options include full voltage/resistor type (e.g., E34RB120), transformer type (E34TB120), PresTest types, and illuminated pushbutton operators.
• Lenses: Available in glass or plastic for indicating lights and pushbuttons. Colors include Red, Green, White, and Amber. Specific models exist for non-illuminated Push-Pull (e.g., E34C2) and illuminated Push-Pull applications.

Contact Blocks and Terminals

• Configurations: Contact blocks feature enclosed silver contacts with 'reliability nibs' for performance up to 600V. Available configurations include 1 NO/1 NC (10250T1), 2 NO (10250T2), 2 NC (10250T3), 1 NC (10250T51), and 1 NO (10250T53).
• Connections: Terminal clamps are saddle clamp type, shipped open ready to wire. They accommodate 1 x 22 AWG (0.34 mm²) to 2 x 14 AWG (2.5 mm²) conductors with a torque of 7 lb-in (0.8 Nm).
• Marking: Terminals are marked NC-NO on the contact block to meet NEMA requirements, and feature dual marking system 1 to 2 for normally closed, 3 to 4 for normally open to meet BS5472 (Cenelec EN50 005).

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard pushbuttons and specialized variants such as PresTest units and E-STOP configurations. Illuminated models vary by voltage type, offering full voltage/resistor types (e.g., 120V) or transformer types.

Contact operation is defined as slow make and break; all normally closed contacts have positive opening operation to force open in the event of contact weld or spring breakage. Light units include transformers that will withstand short circuit for 1 hour per IEC 60947-5-1, with bulb average life at 20,000 hrs., transformer type minimum life at 2500 hrs @ rated V, and LED life ranging from 60,000 to 100,000 hrs.

Switching capacity ratings include AC15 rated make/break (11 x le at 1.1 x Ue) and DC13 rated make/break (1.1 x le at 1.1 x Ue). Low voltage switching capabilities support conical shaped contacts or 'reliability nibs' for dry circuit, corrosive, fine dust, and other contaminated atmospheres, with a minimum operational voltage of 5V and current of 1 mA AC/DC under normal environmental conditions.
