The OS543 is a handheld, non-contact infrared thermometer built for production and general maintenance work. Its built-in laser dot marks the target so an operator can read the surface temperature of equipment, process surfaces, and materials the instant the trigger is pulled, with simple one-hand operation and no physical contact.

Because the instrument is portable, compact, and covers a wide span from below freezing to elevated process temperatures, it suits spot checks on motors, bearings, ducting, electrical panels, and general plant maintenance where a quick surface reading is needed. A Hold function retains the last reading so a value can be recorded after the target is out of view.

The related OS542 handheld documented alongside it differs in several respects: it uses a fixed emissivity of 0.98, an 8:1 field of view, a 0.5 second response time, and a narrower -20 to 500°C (-4 to 932°F) range, and its 4-digit LCD carries automatic power-off after 10 seconds. Both instruments share single-point trigger operation and a laser spot target indicator.
