Supported Applications

The Omega SUR series consists of DialTemp™ Surface Thermometers designed for surface temperature measurement. These handheld, magnetic-mount instruments feature a bi-metallic sensing element that is exposed for quick response but protected by a cover and heat collector. The thermometers are suitable for use on ferrous surfaces or any material with a horizontal surface.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SUR series provides dual Fahrenheit and Celsius dials. Accuracy is specified as ±2% of full scale. The response time is approximately 1 minute, with a note to allow about a minute for the sensing element to stabilize before reading.

Available measurement ranges are:

• -20 to 65°C (0 to 150°F)
• -20 to 120°C (0 to 250°F)
• -20 to 260°C (0 to 500°F)
• 10 to 400°C (50 to 750°F)

The housing material is aluminum with an optically clear crystal. The overall head size is 5.08 cm (2") and the height is 1.27 cm (1/8"). Weight is approximately 56.7 g (2 oz). For most accurate readings, use in still air; higher or lower air temperatures or drafts may slightly affect the temperature indicated.

Configuration Options

The series supports various configurations and options to accommodate specific installation needs:

• Sensor Options: Pointed stems (add '-PS') are available for all models. Silicone filling is offered with the code '-SF' up to 9" for Models A, R, B, S, X, XR, V, VR, and J.
• Dial Features: Unbreakable clear plastic crystals (add '-PC'). Pointers for min and max are available on 3" models (add '-NMP') and 5" models (add '-NMPS').
• Mounting & Accessories: Pocket case/clip is offered for 5 or 6" stems only. C-10 Clip Hanger and T-27 Spring Handle are available for all models. External mounting brackets are provided for Models G and H.
• Threads and Bushings: Mounting options include ¼ NPT, ½ NPT, and ¾ NPT threads (Models Q, G, H). Adaptor bushings are listed as ¼ NPT for Models A, R, B, S, X, XR, V, VR, J. Hex Bushings apply to Models A, R, B, S. Other threads are available on special order.
• Customization: Custom thermometers, dials, ranges, and fixtures are offered.

Note: For lengths over 9", there is an additional cost per additional inch. PFA coating also incurs an additional cost per additional inch.

The series includes four primary stocked models distinguished by their temperature ranges:

• SUR-15: -20 to 65°C (0 to 150°F)
• SUR-25: -20 to 120°C (0 to 250°F)
• SUR-50: -20 to 260°C (0 to 500°F)
• SUR-75: 10 to 400°C (50 to 750°F)

The model number guide follows the format SUR-<MODEL>, with examples such as SUR-75. Specific options like silicone filling and pointed stems are tied to specific model families or stem lengths as documented in the series specifications.
