Supported Applications

The DPI Series is a family of microprocessor-based digital panel meters from the OMEGA® iSeries, built for temperature, process, and strain measurement in industrial monitoring and control panels. Offered in three true DIN sizes with NEMA 4 (IP65) rated front bezels, these instruments drop into machine consoles, process skids, and instrumentation cabinets where a clear, configurable digital readout is required.

Universal temperature and process models accept a broad selection of thermocouple, RTD, and process transducer and transmitter inputs, while dedicated strain and process models handle load, pressure, and voltage or current signals. With optional serial and Ethernet communications, the DPI Series suits data acquisition, remote monitoring, and networked plant systems as readily as standalone panel indication.

Operating Conditions & Performance

DPI meters run on a universal supply of 90 to 240 Vac ±10%, 50 to 400 Hz, with a low-voltage DC option covering 12 to 36 Vdc and 24 Vac. They deliver a fast display response of 0.7 sec for 99.9% of a step change, resolving temperature to 0.1°C and process inputs down to the microvolt level.

Universal temperature and process inputs span wide measurement ranges depending on sensor type, including a J thermocouple range of -210 to 760°C (-346 to 1400°F) and a K thermocouple range up to -160 to 1372°C (-256 to 2502°F), with thermocouple accuracy as tight as 0.4°C (0.7°F). The instruments operate over an ambient range of 0 to 55°C (32 to 131°F) at up to 90% RH non-condensing, and their NEMA 4/IP65 front bezel protects the display against dust and wash-down in the panel face.

Configuration Options

The DPI Series differentiates its models along several clear axes so a configuration can be matched to the panel and the signal:

  • DIN size — models are offered in 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32 DIN formats to fit the available cutout, all sharing a common 127 mm case depth.
  • Input classDPi models cover universal temperature and process inputs, while DPiS models are configured for strain and process signals.
  • Analog output — the A designation (for example DPi8A and DPi16A) adds a proportional analog retransmission output.
  • Compact depth — the C designation (for example DPi8C and DPiS8C) provides a reduced-depth housing for shallow enclosures.

Communications and power options are added through ordering suffixes: -EIT for Ethernet with embedded internet, -C24 for isolated RS232 and RS485, -C4EIT for an Ethernet Web server plus an isolated RS485/422 hub, and -DC for the low-voltage DC power input.

Key Product Differences

The core DPI lineup is organized by DIN size, input class, and feature set:

  • DPi8, DPi8A, DPiS8, and DPi8C/DPiS8C — 1/8 DIN temperature/process, analog-output, strain/process, and compact-depth models.
  • DPi16, DPi16A, and DPiS16 — 1/16 DIN temperature/process, analog-output, and strain/process models.
  • DPi32 and DPiS32 — 1/32 DIN temperature/process and strain/process models.

Each base model can be extended with the communications and power suffixes above, and the range is supported by the DPP-5 1/8 DIN panel punch accessory for preparing the panel cutout.
