Supported Applications

The Omega Q, QP, and G series are dial bimetal thermometers designed for general testing and checking by inspectors, technicians, maintenance personnel, and service staff. Documented applications include refrigeration systems, hot asphalt monitoring, dairy and food product inspection, air conditioning systems, and stack temperature measurement.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series offers a broad envelope of temperature ranges across Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C) scales. Available Fahrenheit ranges include *25 to 125°F, -40 to 160°F, 0 to 200°F, 0 to 250°F, 50 to 300°F, 50 to 500°F, 150 to 750°F, and 200 to 1000°F. Celsius ranges include -40 to 70°C, 0 to 100°C, -10 to 110°C, 0 to 150°C, 0 to 300°C, and 50 to 400°C. Dual-scale options are available for ranges such as 0 to 200°F / -10 to 90°C and 50 to 500°F / 10 to 260°C.

Dial divisions vary by range, with increments of 1°, 2°, 5°, or 10° depending on the selected span. Model QP is available only with a fixed 5" stem length. Models Q and G require a minimum stem length of 4", with variable lengths specified between points such as 0.30, 0.24, 0.118, 0.175, 0.330, and 0.250 inches.

Configuration Options

The series is configured across three primary models with distinct housing dimensions and mounting options:

• Model Q: Features a 1.16" OD head made entirely of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, except for the optically clear crystal and aluminum dial. The head, bezel, and stem are brightly polished to facilitate sanitation and easy cleaning.
• Model QP: Includes a 5" stem and comes with a pocket case featuring a pen-type clip for safe carrying. A pointed stem option is available by adding '-PS' (additional cost).
• Model G: Features a larger 1.73" OD head constructed of all stainless steel except the dial.

Configuration options include reset bushings for Models Q and G, and external mounting brackets for Model G; these accessories require consultation with the Sales Department. Ordering follows specific patterns: Models Q and G are specified as Model - Range - Stem Length - Mounting, while Model QP is specified as Model - Range.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models lies in head size, stem configuration, and portability features. Model G provides a larger 1.73" OD dial compared to the 1.16" OD of Models Q and QP. While Model Q is designed for general industrial use with polished stainless steel construction, Model QP adds portability via an integrated pocket case and pen-type clip but restricts stem length to 5 inches. Model G supports external mounting brackets as a specific option not listed for the other models.
