Supported Applications
The Omega PSW845 is an OEM mechanical differential pressure switch designed for rugged industrial environments. It provides switching functionality to monitor and control processes involving a variety of media up to 6000 psig. The series features excellent bypass characteristics, allowing it to handle flow conditions where other switches might be susceptible to clogging or erratic operation.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PSW845 operates within an ambient temperature range of -54 to 107°C (-65 to 225°F). Engineers should note that a setpoint change of up to 2% of sensor capacity may be anticipated when the switch is used below -23°C or above 52°C. The series supports differential pressure measurements from 2 psid up to 160 psid depending on the specific model selected, with proof ratings reaching 9000 psig and vacuum capability down to 6000 psig.
Performance repeatability varies by range: ±2 psi for PSW845-1, ±4 psi for PSW845-2, ±8 psi for PSW845-3, ±16 psi for PSW845-4, and ±32 psi for PSW845-5. The unit is capable of withstanding light to moderate mechanical shock and vibratory loads. Cycling frequency should not exceed 20 cycles/min.
Configuration Options
The series offers five distinct adjustable ranges, each defined by decreasing and increasing setpoint limits:
- PSW845-1: Decreasing range 2 to 7 psid; Increasing range 7 to 13 psid.
- PSW845-2: Decreasing range 5 to 16 psid; Increasing range 13 to 25 psid.
- PSW845-3: Decreasing range 10 to 21 psid; Increasing range 25 to 45 psid.
- PSW845-4: Decreasing range 20 to 80 psid; Increasing range 35 to 160 psid.
- PSW845-5: Decreasing range 35 to 120 psid; Increasing range 120 to 250 psid.
The switch output is SPDT, rated at 0.25 A @ 120 Vac/175 Vdc. Electrical connection is provided via 300 mm (12") pigtail leads using 24 AWG wire. The housing material is anodized aluminum with overall dimensions of 102 L x 38.1 H x 31.8 mm D (4 x 1.5 x 1.25"). Wetted parts include a steel spring, anodized aluminum piston/body/fitting, Buna seal, and Loctite #271 sealing compound.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between models in the PSW845 series is the adjustable differential pressure range. Each model number corresponds to a specific span of decreasing and increasing setpoints as listed above, which directly correlates with its repeatability specification (±2 psi through ±32 psi). All variants share identical physical dimensions, process connections (1/4-18 NPT female), electrical ratings, and ambient temperature limits.
