Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series WPTN Multi-Jet NSF Certified Plastic Water Meter is a mechanical water totalizing meter designed for potable use, agriculture, and irrigation. The series features NSF certification (NSF/ANSI 61) and utilizes plastic wetted materials to address applications where standard brass is not compatible or in corrosive environments involving fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.
Documented service areas include:
- Potable water
- Commercial water usage
- Chiller water usage
- Agriculture (fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides)
- Irrigation
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series WPTN operates with a process temperature limit of 112°F (50°C) and a pressure rating of 150 psi (10 bar). Accuracy is specified as ±3% at minimum flow and ±1.5% at nominal flow.
Flow ranges vary by model size, covering the following documented envelopes:
- Nominal Flow Range: 1 to 20 GPM
- Nominal Flow Range: 2 to 30 GPM
- Nominal Flow Range: 3 to 50 GPM
- Nominal Flow Range: 5 to 100 GPM
Minimum flow thresholds correspond to the specific size, ranging from 0.25 GPM for smaller models up to 1.5 GPM for the largest sizes.
Configuration Options
The series is configured through a model number structure defining unit of measure, water temperature rating, physical size, and pulse rate options. The meters feature an analog totalizing display with a maximum capacity ranging from 9,999,999.99 to 99,999,999.9 gallons depending on the model.
Process Connections & Dimensions
The series supports multiple spud and coupling configurations:
- Spud Size (BSSP): 5/8", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2"
- Coupling Size (NPT): 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2"
- Overall Length: Ranges from 6-1/2" [165 mm] to 11-13/16" [300 mm]
- Weight: Ranges from 1.55 lb [0.7 kg] to 4.41 lb [2 kg]
Wetted Materials & Electrical Output
The wetted materials consist of a PA body, PA couplings, and an ABS plastic measuring chamber. The meters provide a pulse output with frequency proportional to flow rate via 3.5 mm² stranded lead wires (4.5' / 1.5 m long). Pulse options include:
- 0.1 gal per pulse
- 1 gal per pulse
- 10 gal per pulse
- 100 gal per pulse
Liter equivalents are also documented: 1 L, 10 L, 100 L, and 1000 L per pulse. The electrical rating is listed as 0.01A @ 24 VAC/DC.
Installation Requirements
The unit must be installed in a horizontal position with the meter face pointing up to prevent leakage or damage. Thread protectors should remain on spud threads during storage, and pipe sealant tape is not recommended for use on meter threads.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the Series WPTN are distinguished by physical size (Spud/Coupling combinations), maximum flow capacity, minimum flow thresholds, and pulse output resolution. The model number suffix indicates the specific configuration:
- -A: Unit of measure in Gallons
- -C: Cold water temperature rating (112°F / 50°C)
- Sizes (-01 to -05): Define the Spud and Coupling dimensions, ranging from 5/8" x 1/2" up to 1-1/2".
- Pulse Rate Suffixes: Blank (0.1 gal), -1 (1 gal), -10 (10 gal), or -100 (100 gal).
The Series WPTN is not field serviceable; repair attempts may void the warranty.
