Supported Applications

The Omega CL510A Series consists of portable RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) simulators designed for checking and calibrating RTD instruments. These handheld devices are compatible with smart transmitters, PLCs, DCS systems, controllers, and multichannel recorders.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 60 °C (-10 to 140 °F). Relative humidity limits are defined as 10 % ≤ RH ≤ 90 % (non-condensing) for temperatures between 0 and 35 °C, and 10 % ≤ RH ≤ 70 % (non-condensing) for temperatures between 35 and 60 °C. The unit provides over-voltage protection rated to 60 V dc for up to 30 seconds.

Accuracy specifications vary by excitation current conditions:

• General Accuracy: ±(0.015% of Setting in Ohms + 0.05 Ohms)
• External Excitation Current (1 to 10.2 mA): ±(0.015% of Setting + 0.05 Ohms)
• Below 1 mA External Excitation Current: ±(0.015% of Setting + 0.01 mV/mA Excitation Current + 0.05 Ohms)

The device supports resistance ranges from 0.00 to 410.00 Ω and 410.1 to 4001.0 Ω. Temperature drift is specified as ± 0.05 Ohms/°C.

Configuration Options

The CL510A Series offers configurable simulation capabilities based on the selected model variant, supporting single or multiple RTD curves with specific alpha coefficients and temperature ranges:

• Sensor Types Supported: Pt 100 Ohm (DIN/IEC/JIS 1989, Burns, Old JIS 1981, US Lab), Pt 1000 Ohm (DIN/IEC/JIS 1989, Hy-Cal HVAC), Copper 10 and 50 Ω, Ni 120 Ohm (Pure), and Ni 110 (Bristol 7 NA).
• Electrical Connections: Configurable for 2, 3, or 4 wires matching the sensor connections.
• Pulsed Excitation Compatibility: Supports DC to 0.01 second pulse width.

The unit features a high-contrast graphic LCD with LED backlighting and an adjustable digital potentiometer 'DIAL' knob for precise output adjustment in °C, °F, or ohms (resolution of 0.1° or 0.01/0.1 ohm increments). It includes the ability to store up to three preset temperature values.

Power is supplied by four 'AA' Alkaline 1.5V (LR6) batteries, providing approximately 50 hours of battery life with a low-battery indication at roughly one hour remaining. An optional Ni-MH rechargeable kit (Part Number: 020-0103) is available for North America only.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between two primary model configurations:

• CL510A-1: Simulates a single RTD type (Pt100, alpha 0.00385).
• CL510A-10: Supports up to ten different RTD types including various Platinum, Copper, and Nickel standards.

Both models include a Certificate of Calibration traceable to NIST (no points) and carry CE marking for European New Approach Directives. Optional accessories include a rubber boot (Part Number: 020-0209 or CL500A-RB), an RTD Wire Kit (Part Number: 020-0208), and a small carrying case (Part Number: SC-HH500).
